Not a fan of dropping in the polls after a win, regardless of who the team is.
Georgia beat a D1-AA school and USC beat a team that played like one.

I have to agree. It would seem that the pollsters have a case of the early season jitters.
Georgia did nothing to drop down a slot.

UVA is not that good of team. Basically what we have here is everyone bowing down to USC again just like every year.

Not for long

Re: USC surpasses Georgia for AP top spot
As bad as the ACC proved it was this past week, the UVA blow-out should surprise NO ONE. The conference is top-to-bottom the worst BCS conference in football.
Personally, I don't care if they bump USC up a spot. Big deal. They give players perks to come there and one day, I'll laugh as Pete Carrol shamefully resigns and Reggie Bush loses his Heisman and his national championship. But I digress.
I'm more concerned with:
Texas Tech #12? This team has given up at least 25ppg the past 6 years. They start off with E. Washington, at Nevada, SMU, and Massachusetts. With such a weak schedule, they could be in the top 5 by the time the conference games start. No defense here....
BYU? BCS, please don't make this mistake. Sure, it makes people feel good when teams like this make it into the big games, but did it really feel that good watching Hawaii get torn to shreads by Georgia?
South Florida? Haha refer to last year.
Oregon? Lets quit trying to make the PAC 10 look better than it is. In 04, 06, and 07 Oregon came into the season ranked and ended the season unranked. Oregon is a pretender who will lose to USC to make them look more legit - happened in 05 and 06.
Wake Forest? Again, worst BCS conference in the USA. I guess the pollsters wanted to give the ACC something to salvage after two prime-time embarrassments.
UCLA? Again, this is the pollsters trying to prop up a paper contender to "take on" USC and make the PAC 10 look good. Sorry, no sale here....
South Carolina? Refer to last year....

so when Ohio State beats USC in week 3 and Georgia has the week off, OSU shouldn't pass Georgia? i mean because Georgia didn't do anything to lose the spot

Re: USC surpasses Georgia for AP top spot
You can't just say that one team is the clear #1 this early in the year. But I do think that since USC has a bye this week why shouldn't Ohio State or Georgia move back up. Most legit BCS teams will play a 1AA team the first game of the year so just because USC didn't does not mean that they should automatically move up. I watched both the Georgia and Ohio State game and a lot of the starters did not play very long. It is a tune up game for a reason and should not make a team lose their ranking!!!
Re: USC surpasses Georgia for AP top spot
UVA would get beaten by some DII schools. This is a team that was a few plays away from being a 4 win team last year and this is supposed to be a rebuilding year! Ohio State or Georgia would have destroyed UVA, too. I agree that it is stupid to call someone a "clear-cut" #1 after the first week, but the media hypes up USC every year. No big deal.

Re: USC surpasses Georgia for AP top spot
If OSU beats USC, OSU should move to 2nd and USC to 3rd, with Georgia #1...they should not drop if it is there bye week...That is not fair!
Re: USC surpasses Georgia for AP top spot
I would bet that Ohio State is number 2 this week just to boost the TV ratings with tha 1 vs 2 game next week and it will be a late game.

Re: USC surpasses Georgia for AP top spot
NOBODY SHOULD HAVE MOVED IN WEEK 1. THEY ALL WON.
OHIO STATE OVER 1AA YOUNGSTOWN STATE
GEORGIA OVER 1AA GEORGIA SOUTHERN, WHO PUT UP LIKE 20 POINTS, ON THE THEN NUMBER 1 TEAM.
AND USC BEAT VIRGINIA WHO WOULD NOT BE COMPETITIVE WITH UPPER TIER 1AA SCHOOLS.
RIDICULOUS FOR MOVEMENT LIKE THIS IN WEEK 1, WITH EVERYBODY WINNING.
TOO
MUCH DANG MEDIA INVOLVEMENT. WITH CALIFORNIA TAKING UP NEARLY THE WHOLE LEFT COAST.
