I don’t believe Preferred Walk ons sign a National Letter of Intent. NLI’s are signed for financial implications.

If you are not going to receive an athletic scholarship there is no "document" to sign technically as I understand it. But plenty of kids in the area going to play at the NAIA, D2 and D3 levels and a few at the D1 level from the looks at some of the twitter feeds that get shared and re-tweeted. So congrats to everyone playing at the next level, best of luck to you.

Congratulations to all the young men able to continue playing the game they love in college and to have their higher education all or partially paid for. Hope they all have success. I’m proud of them.

Re: National Letter of Intent NLI Day
I believe Southeastern Ohio had two D1 players that the college coaches deemed worthy of scholarships. One FBS going to West Virginia and one FCS going to Robert Morris.
This is why it is so difficult to compete for State titles in southeastern Ohio for division 3 and up.

The best d3 team ever from our area didn't get it done ( they were the better team)
2014 Athens Bulldogs had 4 d1 players

Re: National Letter of Intent NLI Day

Congrats to any player getting a chance to play in college.
Pikeville is a sweet place.
I recommend catching a game at Belfry.

Re: National Letter of Intent NLI Day
Doesn't matter how they got there they are both D1 players, so Athens 2014 did ultimately have 4 D1 players, and there is always the chance they get offered a scholarship at some point.
Athens lost to TCC in 2014. TCC in 2015 was back in the State Final, and the back to the Final 4 in 2016 and 2017 I believe, playing Trotwood to within a score or so. Be interesting to see how many D1 players TCC had on the 2014 team. I remember their sophomore back on that 2014 team had D1 offers already to maybe KY or Louisville, I wonder how many senior TCC kids on 2014 went D1.
I thought there was a kid from this year's Athens team that also is going to OU, did I not see that somewhere?
Re: National Letter of Intent NLI Day
It seems like the last 10 years or so , southern Ohio is putting out a good number of d1 football players .
Re: National Letter of Intent NLI Day
Approximately 11,000 Senior Ohio boys playing high school football in 2017. There were 114 Ohio boys that received 100% full scholarships to a FBS college football team. That is 1.06% of all Senior boys that played Ohio high school football. Southeastern Ohio had Blaine Scott from Sciotoville Community School that was one of the 114 boys. Congratulations Blaine !!! Truly an honor.....
Re: National Letter of Intent NLI Day
D1 athletes from southern Ohio used to be almost unheard of .
I'm trying to think of all of them. Not to mention the d2 players who were too short or a step too slow that were actually better football players.
Jaylen Prater - Northwestern
Blaine Scott - wvu
Jarrod McCray - OU
Reagan Williams - Stanford
Trevon Pendleton - mich state
Elijah Woolum- Air Force academy
Chucky Morris - Robert Morris
Chris Fairchild - Kent state
Woodside- Cincinnati
Naylan Yates - OU
Joe Burrows - The Ohio State
Williams - northwestern
Lerhman - OU
Lerhman - OU
Gerald - the Ohio state
Cain Madden - Marshall
Brody Rodgers - OU
I know I'm missing some

Is he Coach Gifford’s son? If he is, I guess that may have been another factor into Coach going to South Point.
