I had these done last night ... I've stared at the numbers, the napkin stats, the SoS, the individual teams played , where they were played ... Logan has to overcome more than just opponents - my Purple has to overcome the "well yeah, pfloyd IS a Logan guy" too ... the Chiefs have held up to the scrutiny , have played the BIG BOYS , the only blemish IF you can call it a blemish wasn't even a loss - it was having NY on the schedule ! LHS won handily ... vs a team that shot almost 60% from the field against them (Warren) Logan won going away shooting 69.7% from the field themselves , going 10/14 from the 3 point line, had 4 players in double figures for the 7th time this season ... Chiefs EARNED their way into the #1 spot with D2 Fairland who has the same team that made it to the Final 4 in D3 last season ... the Dragons own starting 5 have 4 players AVERAGING double figures in scoring for the season, a center averaging a double double ... no losses to any teams in the SE District this season ... 3 players who have scored over 1000 points in their careers ... the Fairland Dragons , Logan Chieftains go into the last week tied at #1 ...

My favorite time of year is the one and done season, and also the pfloyds elite 8 .

Teams can now make their move and climb up that ladder and prove they are better then the teams in front of them.

Best of luckgo everyone and.
GO TROJAN'S!!!!

... Logan plays at home vs Massilon Perry tommorow early evening, Fairfield Union plays AT Sheridan Monday night as well ... on Thursday the 22nd Trimble squares off with Waterford for the 2nd time in less than a week ... all 3 of these games will have a bearing on the final Elite 8 come next weekend ...

... the Elite 8 is only kept during the regular season ... I will only be counting regular season games in the rankings - I realize that there are some makeup games being played as late as next Friday evening I believe ... hopefully I can keep up with the Regular Season finals vs the first week of the post season action ... we will see !

Like every year...the final rankings are always the best. Hard to argue much at all top to bottom.

I would have to have Athens over Miami Trace. You probably have Whiteoak too high but I think they have more wins this year than in the past 5 combined. Coach Kibler has it turned around!

Great year, enjoy the Convo!

Maybe it was just me that little track after regular season, I remember the year we went to final four we was like 12 or 14 ,the ranking was right because we lost to a couple bad teams ,south point being one,but just shows that post season is wide open, great thing about hoops

biggdowgg as you pointed out the "survive and advance " season IS a different animal ... timing is everything, matchups are key ... one thing is for sure is that "nothing is a given" in the post season other than pfloyd being the Cheap Seats to take it all in !

Pfloyd, will you be taking in any of the Logan playoff matchups, or are you keeping it in the SE district?

I will try and make sure I post all regular season scores on this thread to help keep track.

If you could edit the elite 8 rankings team records as we go along would be great. Just regular season wins and losses. I like to know exactly what teams are after 22 games.

Thanks

And I agree with I92 ... Athens too low ... haha

Chieftain2009 ... I will see the Logan vs Tri Valley game Saturday ... I will need to see when the game with Olentangy is set for ... I will be staying Below the Lancaster-Dixon Line unless the Logan games are on SE District "OFF" days ... I look for the Purple to take both games at Jim's Gym before they move onto ??? ...

... Thanks 93bulldog ... I WILL be updating the records on this thread as the games are played - thanks ...

How many seasons in a row is that there have been more than 8 teams listed in the elite 8?

What did Pfloyd's Elite 8 look like this time last year?

There seems to be quite a few losses in the Top 8 this year, is it do to the competition level of the Teams they played? I know Fairland lost to some top notch competition, what about the others?

Logan's 2 losses were to a very good Mount Vernon team (by 2) and the #1 ranked team in WVa in OT

Fairfield Union lost to 2 of the top 3 teams from the Columbus City League, who are the high seeds in the D2 Central District.

Unioto's 2 losses were to Logan and Fairfield Union (OT)

Warren played a top flight schedule and got hot in the 2nd half of the season once their inexpierenced guys got more comfortable

Chillicothe lost to Unioto (by 3), Reynoldsburg (OT), Warren (by 2), Wilmington, Upper Arlington (state ranked in D1)

It appears that the schedules are getting more difficult in the non conference slate, which is great.
