20-0 (4-0 AMC)

I've got to see them play a few times this year. They look pretty good. They have a ton of hitters... Day, and Turrill at middle and Howard, Koehler, Emler and Wills on the outside. I've watched this team quite a bit over the past 8-9 years and this is the most talent I've seen on one Bears team. They have an excellent setter in Halcomb and Massie is pretty solid as well, and Tiffany Dailey plays pretty good defense for them.

Also, the new gym floor looks great!

It would have been great to see the Turrill girl play at Ohio University. Guess they don't like to chose much local talent. I would say she is more talented then the girl from NY that is playing for them now. Oh well, she is shining at Shawnee State. Good luck the rest of the season ladies.

Watching the Mt. Vernon game, this team could be destined for big things. They were down 2-0 to a team that was nationally ranked a couple weeks ago, and was out for blood after SSU beat them at their place.

But the team rallied to win three straight sets and knock off Mt. Vernon. I was highly impressed by the character and talent of the team.

The Bears beat ODU in three games tonight, 25-23, 25-18, 25-23. They're now 23-0, 5-0 AMC. It wasn't their prettiest win, but they just overpowered ODU. Becca Day, Jamie Turrill, and Heather Koehler each had 12 kills, and Megan Wills had 11. Haley Halcomb had 44 assists, and Tiffany Dailey had 21 digs.

As of right now, the Bears are ranked 2nd in Region IX behind Walsh, and received twenty-seven points in the national rankings this week which would puts them 32nd in the nation (NAIA only ranks 25). This is also the first time in school history that Shawnee has received any points in the national rankings.

Also, a few more interesting statistics:

Shawnee is ranked:
2nd in all of NAIA in attack %
14th in digs per game
34th in kills per game
39th in aces per game

Becca Day is ranked 1st in all of NAIA in attack % at 45.0%
Tiffany Dailey is 4th in digs per game at 6.56 dpg
Heather Koehler is 48th in hitting % at 30.7%

There are almost 300 universities in the NAIA.

The Bears have a big conference test on Saturday. Tri-match with Walsh and Cedarville, at Cedarville. Both Shawnee and Walsh are undefeated in the AMC; Cedarville has one AMC loss.
