VC and Athens was a great game. Hats off to VC the better team won. Either you make shots or you do not. Fantastic comeback to put the game into OT for Athens and VC good luck next game. The posters can say all they want and try to get acclaim. Not one college coach anywhere reads this. Proud of Yates going to the next level in football. He and Speakman deserve POY and All TVC is simply a political decision. SE Ohio is not good in hoops so parents enjoy hs . Athens loses the most unappreciated PG in SE Ohio. Hopefully politics is not a factor next season and a reserve player takes that spot along with Williams. Go Vikings and congrats to Athens for the winning streak when the politics was forced to end.

Imagine Chubb in 3 years, he was not held back but could have easily been, and after what he showed you tonight at Just turning 16 and you have Yates who turned 19 in November. Just admit you were praying VC would pull it off when Athens had them on the Ropes. darn lucky we missed some Free throws. And that's the Bottom line. Very few had Athens even competing. Hard to beat a 19 1/2 yr old Division one Athlete from VC that was held back. And that's the bottom line. Athens top scorer tonight is 16 1/2. So take that to the bank. 3 years makes a hell of a difference. Say what you want. It is an unfair advantage.

So maybe we should break high school sports down to 4 teams instead of 3, we can have a 14-15 year old team, 15-16, 16-17, then an open division. Would that be more fair to you, and really? Now you are just embarrassing yourself by attacking a kid and his family. Classy!

So what are you saying? Is AAU where a player really has a chance? Should a player who really wants a chance to play at the next level try to play for an AAU team that has a top exposure tournament schedule and not have their hopes set in college coaches coming to games in SE OHIO during the HS season?

It’s disheartening to see someone take repeated shots at players, and directing those shots by calling those players out by name. Not only is it disheartening, but it’s also completely unnecessary.

This age thing is pointless. And is only about two players. How is this any different that an excelling Freshman coming in to college and out performing a junior or senior? They rise up to the challenge and excel. So IF the 16 has s chance to play in college are we going to blame the fact he is only 18 as to why he didn’t do as well as the other boys on the court? Those statements as ridiculous. If it’s true the Hynes boy is 18, then every other team will say the same thing next year about Athens if he has a big year.

Point blank is Vinton did what it needed to win. Athens did not. Both turned out to be great teams and played down to the wire and gave everyone a show just like most on here thought they would. Starters from both teams did there job and gave there teams an opportunity to win. Crowd was electric and all the boys gave them a show. Just have to hit your charity shots!!! Hate to see a team lose when u miss your last 5 free throws. Heck of a season either way. Good luck Vinton.

PS.... I’d say Yates locked up POY if they are voting Sunday with that performance. Speakman a close second. Be nice to see Maxfield, Mattox and maybe even the Baer kid with honorable mention. They all excelled this season.

A 9 game win streak is impressive even against sub par teams best win during that streak was against VC. You also can’t look at what Vinton County has done this year either playing about 6 games with all starters healthy together Nevan missed the first 2 weeks and naylan missed 4-5 games at the beginning after getting hurt preseason against unioto, when things started looking good Eli goes down with an ankle injury and it out several games as soon as he comes back speakman goes down with a back injury against nelsonville and is out until the final game of the regular season against wellston finally all parts are clicking and with vc healthy and playing to their potential they could make a run in the playoffs it’s a stretch but vc has the talent to beat fairland, but they have been sketchy all season will we see the team that showed up against Athens last night or the team that showed up against Athens/chillicothe/Logan@ home where they start slow and get down double digits early and have to come from behind, if that’s the case then vc loses to fairland
