If the Heisman were given out today......

Post by USAF_Defender23 »

Who would you give it to?

Myself- Chase Daniel

101-133 for 1412 yards 12 TD's to only 1 INT and a 193.39 passer rating.

Mark May said the same player, my question is who has he played?!?!?! He is good no doubt, but this is why they don't hand it out untill the end of the year. If he beats Texas and Oklahoma than I will consider him.

Grahm Harrel has been pretty impressive down at Texas Tech.

Of course Tebow has to be #1 still untill someone knocks off Florida.

Javon Ringer anyone? He has been outstanding thus far. Anyone see him against ND? He is the best back in the Big Ten this season, sorry Beanie your hurt. The kid benches 400-lbs and squats 600-lbs.

How about Sanchez? Beat OSu to death and put up some really nice numbers against better than average competition.

My Ballot would look like this week #3
1. Tebow
2. Ringer
3. Sanchez
4. Daniel

I think each season should be viewed as separate from the last season. That being the case, I don't see how Tebow could be that high on the list. Tebow has been average at best this season. Plus, even though his stats are just okay, most of those have still come late in the game during blowouts because Meyer loves to beef his stats. See the UT game. Meyer deserved a Tebow ACL tear in that situation yesterday. I'm not saying TT deserved it, but Meyer definitely had it coming.

If Mcknight got more touches, I would like him for the award. Also, lets see how Sanchez finishes out.

Hey peake, if your considering Tebow for what he did last season, and he had a great season then let's look at Daniel last season.

384-563 for 4306 yards 33 TDs and 11 INTs. That's 68% completion rating.

I know he runs the spread O and hasn't really played any great competiton this season but (here I go again) last season against.....

#6 Oklahoma: 38-49 for 361 and a TD
#2 Kansas: 40-49 for 361 and 3 TDs
#9 Oklahoma: 23-39 for 219

Yea this was last season but he looks just as good this season so far. Saturday he completed 20 straight passes. If he keeps up this pace he should be the Heisman Trophy winner.

Yeah, I like Ringer too. Wish Holbrook had not been OSU's Prez when he was a senior, as he was all Buckeye if they could offer. A Ringer/Beanie combo would be nice, and Ringer would look very good as the go-to guy right now.

Yes, Ringer should be top 3 right now.

Today?? Tebow would not get invited to NY (except as a previous winner) unless they want the Heisman Trophy to become a laughing stock and that is not going to happen. He wouldn't be a top ten contender.

Daniels by far
Ringer
Harrell
Sanchez
Hall
Crabtree
Moreno
McNight with more touches

At least a couple defenders come to mind before Tebow. UM showed last year that Tebow is good but not great and relies alot on Harvin's athleticism. To his credit though they have absolutely no running backs again and a better but still subpar line.

Thank goodness there is still alot of football to be played and alot of good matchups to help determine the outcome. One good thing OSU fans got was another year out of Beanie b/c no way he would be a first rounder this year. Way too many ???? about durability. The NFL isn't the NBA! Potential gets you fired, production makes you richer!

its funny that OSU fans are saying this. Look at Archie Griffin's second Heisman campaign. Awful.

Griffin's senior year was "Awful" only by his own lofty standards.

He still led the Big Ten in Rushing yards.
Ran for 1,450 yards.
Averaged 5.5 yards per cary.
Continued the streak of 31 straight 100 yard games.
Finished as the NCAA's all time leading rusher.

The top running back he beat out that year were Anthony Davis of USC who had 1,469 yards rushing.

The Hiesman ballots were due before Anthony Davis dominated Notre Dame in the season finale, but Archie had 4 times the number of first place votes and likely wouldn't have been passed up by Davis.

Oh yea, Archie was only 5'8" and 180 his senior year.

Which means what during his one season? Without looking it up, I believe he only had 3 TDs. His backup at OSU had 22 TDs I believe. Davis deserved it IMO. Or even his backup may have deserved it.

It wasn't the backup. It was the FB who Woody fed every time inside the 5 yardline. Archie could have scored those too.

Hands down??? I don't think so. Ringer is every bit as good as Daniels, and a much better pro prospect.

We'll have to agree to disagree.

I know Daniels stats are great, but putting up numbers against the likes of Nevada and Buffalo aren't good enough for me to give him a heisman. He did have a great game against Illinois, but untill he beats Texas or Oklahoma, no way.

Ringer has had two straight 200 yard games, and missed having three by a single yard. He already has 898 yards on the ground and leads the NCAA in rushing TD's at 12. He has played Cal, Notre Dame, and Indiana, much more impressive than Buffalo, Nevada, and SW Mizzou St.

I will take Ringer at THIS point.
