Boeckman vs Pryor

Post by USAF_Defender23 »

Here are the stats for each QBs first career start.

Todd Boeckman:
17-23 225yd 2 TD with a 184.8
1 rush -13 yd

Terrelle Pryor:
10-16 139yd and 4 TD and 1 INT with a 103.9 rating
11 rush 66 yd

While Boeckman had more yards and a higher QB rating Pryor put more points on the board and that's what wins games.

Another you have to consider in those stats is that Todd Boeckman was a 4th year junior and 23 years old when he made his first start against Youngstown State and had been in the OSU program for three years. Pryor's an 19-year-old true freshman and has been on campus just since June, about three and a half months.

I understand that. I heard on the radio where some one said Boeckman is the poor man's Craig Krenzel. Don't get me wrong here though, I like Boeckman, one for his age and the time he has been in the system. However he has beaten a ranked team higher than 21 as a starter. Those wins came against Purdue(23), Penn State(25), Wisconsin(21) and a very dismal Michigan team (21). When he plays against high powered, though defenses he seems to loose all control. On the other hand Pryor is a frosh and still learning. He will be great with time. He showed some good things yesterday but lets see how he fairs against the Big Ten and hopefully a Rose Bowl participant.

You know, I was so impressed with Boeckman at least in one game and that was the Penn State game last year. I remember everyone was talking about how he would handle the noise level and pressure playing in the Penn State stadium and it ended up being the best game I ever saw him play. He was so calm and solid, didn't seem fazed at all by the noise or the white-out and all that white stuff that kept falling on the field. His passes were solid and he didn't get rattled.

On another thread I said that TP needed to show the ability to get the ball over the top with accuracy. He did! He is the starter!

Boeck needs to look no further than the inept O-line (and his slow feet) for losing the starting job. You can't throw from the horizontal position. Pryor can run for his life (ex. Justin - Troy) hence he HAS to be the guy. Until Bollman leaves/gets fired, that's the ONLY way OSU will be the King of the MAC. (then get the $hi? kicked out of them in a BCS bowl)
