how do you figure? OSU lost to the #1 team in the nation on the road. USC lost to an unranked team on the road. OSU should be no more than 1 or 2 spots behind USC simply because of the fact that USC won the 1 on 1 matchup. If OSU had lost to any other highly ranked team and USC gone on to lose to Oregon St. i'd have OSU ahead of USC. OSU is a better team than that score showed. have them play now, with Pryor and how well he's doing, i bet OSU wins or at least gives USC a better game than 35-3 or whatever the score was.

someone posted that osu didnt deserve to be 5 spots behind usc............. i agree wholeheartedly................. maybeeeeeeeeeeeeeee....... 10 spots behind them.

The Big 12 isn't as tough as it's being made out to be. Missouri and Texas Tech are offense-only teams. They don't scare me and they shouldn't scare any legitimate Top 10 team. Oklahoma - the REAL Big 12 threat - beat Missouri twice last year - both times by multiple scores. Texas Tech might be a little bit better than Hawaii was last year - if they go to a BCS game, they'll get wacked by at least 3 scores.
Why don't you take a look at the conferences top to bottom and tell me which conference is better as a whole. The worst team in the Big 10 right now is Indiana and they're at .500.
Compare them to Iowa State or Texas A&M - there is no comparison. Purdue - who is a lower level Big 10 team took the 2nd best team in the PAC 10 to overtime after being up 20-3 at one point.
Please, continue get down on all fours and make SEC football your god. There are some good teams down there - not always consistent, not always disiplined (after all, you're dealing with lower intelligence down that way - the South is still a work in progress and backward traditions are still there), but there's a bunch of talent. Right now, Alabama is looking like the first team in a while from down that way that will bring it every saturday.

USC totally dominated Oh state in that game. How can youseriously suggest another game wouldn't be any different?
Wisky, one of your top tier big10 teams blows 19-0 lead to mid/bottom tier Michigan team that had 5 TO's inthe game.
What did mizzou do to Illinois in that early season matchup?

Purdue is mid level team in big10. They will probly finish 5-6 in conf play. Didn't Oregon lose their QB inthat game?

Not suggesting another game would be different. I've already addressed this on another thread.
No excuse for Wisky, but it was against another Big 10 team.
Mizzou got into a shootout with a now-unranked Illinois and a poor man's Pat White in Juice Williams.
As I said: Missoui doesn't play good defense against decent teams. They play one really good team all year in Texas - they'll be beaten - probably by quite a bit. But it's even hard to tell if Texas is legit this year. We'll know when they play Oklahoma. But Missouri will lose to Texas.
Purdue is not nearly as good as last year. They'll lose at least 4 more games, probably 5 or 6. No bowl game this year. There will be a lot of teams around .500 this year in Big 10 play. Purdue may be one of them, but they will be on the lower end of the standings. And besides, Oregon is the 2nd best team in the PAC 10 - the only ranked team in the conference besides USC. By your logic, since Oregon lost their QB in that game and it made a difference, maybe OSU should get another shot at USC since they didn't have Wells? One player shouldn't matter unless you really aren't that great of a team.

Believe it or not, USC IS still in the title hunt. They are still ranked in the top ten and some teams ahead of them still have tough roads to overcome.

Oklahoma, Mizzou, Texas Tech, and Texas have to get through their Big 12 sched plus a Big 12 Championship.

Alabama and LSU still have to play each other as well as other SEC schools plus an SEC Championship.

Penn State has to go to Ohio State and also has to play Wisconsin and an inconsistent Michigan.

BYU plays at Utah in the final game of their season.

There are 17 teams with a legit shot at making the National Championship right now.

Oklahoma, Mizzou, Texas, Texas Tech, Kansas, Alabama, LSU, Florida, Georgia, Auburn, Vanderbilt, Penn State, Ohio State, USC, BYU, Utah, and USF.

Anything is possible in college football.

Every Saturday is a must win for Ohio State. I still think everyone will need two losses for the Buckeyes to even get close. USC is the sexxy team, so they will stay highly ranked.
Can you believ e that two "genius'" like Urban Meyer and Pete Carroll could lose on the same weekend? Wow. And lose to powerhouses like Oregon State and Mississippi. Still ranked in top 10? The politics are great.

i just love ohio state fans logic. technically, when ohio state got smashed by usc then in turn usc got beat by oregon state in a close game. id say that looks worse for ohio state than better. the real osu(oregon state) should be ranked ahead of the buckeyes. see i can spin logic too.

Nope, looks worse on USC because they do the same thing every year: lose to a PAC 10 weakling. The AP has chosen to more or less let it slide this time. They're playing the "USC has the better players and if we drop them too far down, people will complain if they aren't in the NC" card. So pretty much, we already have our minds made up who we want in the NC so it really doesn't matter how bad their conference is or who they lose to because we have our minds made up anyway.
Fact is USC plays a weak schedule - their hardest game after Oregon may very well be Notre Dame, who would not even be in the top 4 of the Big 10 this year - and if you don't agree with that, I'll know that you aren't even worth debating with.

so, ohio state is part of that weak schedule?

Yeah - they're the only semi-quality win USC will have all year. Oregon, like Notre Dame, wouldn't even finish in the Top 4 of the Big Ten and by the end of the year they won't be in the Top 25. Like I've said before, Oregon is only ranked early on so they can be beaten by USC and make them look good.
The other thing to remember is that USC got to play OSU at home and now they get to play their other "Big Game" at home. If they lose another game, they should drop at badly as they did last year after the Stanford debacle because they'll be double digit favorites from here on out.
While USC is tip-toeing through the tulips that are the their PAC 10 schedule, Ohio State will take on 3 currently ranked teams in the next 4 weeks + a currently unbeaten Northwestern team, Juice Williams and Illinois, and then play in the biggest rivalry in College Football against Michigan - who's improving week by week.
That's the difference between OSU's schedule and USC's. So if USC runs the table throughout the rest of the season and just misses out on the NC game, don't use the "well, they're the best team in football NOW" argument. We won't know how good they really are until they play in a BCS game because they don't play quality football teams!

again, if im reading this right, youre saying ohio state is not a quality football team.

i love your logic. the big tens poster child ohio state buckeyes get trounced by usc and by your logic usc isnt that good. by my conclusion based entirely on your posts fuzzy, this means the best the big ten has to offer got beat by a mediocre(your words) usc team and you think the pac 10 is below the big 10. wow, i would love to be your accountant.

Before I retort, let me say this first: I don't know for sure if OSU is a "quality team" or not. I think that at the end of the year, they'll be ranked which is more than I can say for any PAC 10 team besides USC.
Now, I've given you OSU's toughest remaining games. They have some very tough opponents ahead. I think we'll all know what OSU is made of after they're played. That's why I used the term "semi-quality". Right now, that win looks pretty good for USC, but if OSU finishes the season with 3 or 4 losses and ends up in the middle of the pack in the Big 10, it won't be that impressive.

Never said USC wasn't that good: I said their conference is weak and they aren't challenged - and it shows with their major let-downs against PAC 10 stinkers every year.
