OSU and Meatchicken

Post by ItownHosscat »

With Meatchicken stinkin worse than a 3 day old diaper in a glovebox on a 100 degree day, should OSU go out and find a new rivalry?
Will ABC continue to show "The" game or go for a ratings game of say Marshall vs Furman?

STATE in green might fill that bill. It's the same state. As for the outlook for the remainder of the osu season,no way osu runs the table. They will lose at least one of these games.ILL,PSU, or the aformentioned MSU.

OSU's D needs to get their heads out of where the sun don't shine and play as good as they look on paper. if that doesnt happen they very well could lose to both PSU and Illinois. yes, they held Purdue to 3 points but gave up nearly 300 yards to that powerhouse Purdue offense  i was really excited coming into this season with my only concern being Boeckman's play because OSU looks really good on paper but they're really lackluster when they step on the field to say the least.

Ummm... Who cares about yards? Purdue racked up nearly 100 of those yards on their last 2 drives against a soft OSU zone. How can anyone complain about the defense this week? Sheesh. The offense did nothing, and the D dominated anyway.

Do you remember the 2002 defense under Dantonio? They gave up loads of yards, but not many points. The philosophy is to make the other team drive the length of the field slowly, without getting a big play. If the O can execute that often on multiple drives against a highly talented defense, then they are a great offense.

Good lord. The Purdue game was never in doubt, and that was due to a defense that totally dominated. Even the Purdue fan near me said, "Well, this is definitely the best defense we have played against."

dumb topic

how can you say that

it dosent matter how bad a team is the rivalry is there and the fans are there.

we all know in the past the bad team has won and the team that had the chance to go all the way lost. I rember when michigan was just the cream of the crop and Osu who was like a 3 or 4 loss team smacked them in the mouth. its the magic of the game and this year is no different. no saying that michigan will win but it wont be as bad as you think.

who cares about yards? i do because about the time they give up 300 yards to an offense actually worth something they'll put up a lot more than 3 points (i.e. USC). 2002 was before the spread dominated the way it has in recent years and today. in 2002 you could get away with having your back against the wall and just playing hard nosed defense to hold them to a field goal or less, not today though, there's too many ways teams can score running an effective spread offense. dont get me wrong, the OSU D is good, they're 12th in the nation but i feel they are highly underachieving and might be in some trouble when PSU comes to town.

I agree and the sad part is that our D is definitely the strength of this football team compared to our offense. Dantonio had the guts to force the issue with defensive pressure and man up when needed to apply pressure or stop the run. Our zone is a staple in our gameplan and one that I don't want to get used to.

OSU vs Mich will always be a big game but I really do not see Michigan winning another game this season. They are 24 point underdogs to Penn State. Don't say they will beat or have an easy time beating any Big Ten school this year after watching that Toledo game. Penn State will totally embarrass them in this game. I'm guessing 45-7

This thread should be deleted.

Or at least nominated for most useless thread of the year.

Will it all be in fun when Rich gets his team and talent together up there and beats the Buckeyes
a couple of times.

Or will bandwagon fans be calling for Tressel's head because he can no longer beat Michigan.

Michigan has 3 Big Ten titles this decade, the Buckeyes have 4.

From 2000-2007 Michigan has 73 wins and OSU has 81
OSU has beaten Michigan 6 times in that span.
If those games were never played the total would be OSU-75 Michigan-73.

OSU/Michigan will always be THE rivalry.
Penn St is a good rival.
Illinois is a traditional rival
But Michigan is and always will be THE Rival.
