2018 MVL Football Offseason Talk and Outlook
Cambridge, Coshocton, and Meadowbrook to the MVL? I would guess Marietta and Warren also to the MVL?
Saw the Cambridge guy post that on Yappi
Could add those 5 and put Morgan with them. Have 8 and 6 division MVL.

BobcatQB wrote:So when MVL expands soon to include Cambridge, Coshocton and Meadowbrook they will divide into two divisions?
Large
Tri Valley (DII 376)
Sheridan (D III 299)
Maysville (D III 281)
John Glenn (D IV 262)
Philo (D IV 242)
Cambridge (D IV 234)
Small
New Lexington (D IV 231)
Morgan (D IV 218)
Meadowbrook (D V 210)
West Muskingum (D V 172)
Coshocton (D V 170)
Crooksville (D VI 134)
5 division games and 2 crossovers. This would have been a done deal a few years ago if they would have went Large/Small..

Tri Valley (D II 376)
Zanesville (D III 341)

Coshocton (D V 170)
Crooksville (D VI 134)
I could see this as a realistic expansion and alignment, and travel within the league wouldn't be the worst as the large schools are primarily near or North of I-70 with the exception of Sheridan while the small schools are primarily near or south of I-70 with the exception of Coshocton. If travel is too much of an issue, then stay with the idea of 12 and don't add Coshocton and River View.

Re: MVL Expansion?
Since River View left the MVL in 2004 there have been teams from Licking, Hocking, Washington, Coshocton, Muskingum, Guernsey, and Tuscarawas that have "applied" to be in the MVL. Some wanted to be the 10th team. Some wanted to be part of a 12 team or 16 team 2 division set up. All were voted down. Including the teams and division break down shown in second post here.
It takes a 75% current member vote for a team to join the MVL. That means a minimum of 7 out of 9. There are some schools that have been very vocal over the years that they will not vote yes until it is unanimous.
No one wants a situation like the SEOAL where teams were added and charter members start leaving until the league disbanded.
It is also a possibility that a 10th team is added, they go 5/5 big school/small school divisions with 4 in division and 3 crossover and only one of the schools mentioned finds a new home.
No way the MVL adds Zanesville (bigger than Tri-Valley if you include their community school numbers), Logan, Warren, or Marietta (last 3 too far away from many MVL teams).
Don't expect any news (if there is any) until winter sports are over. Maybe a good ways into spring sports.

Re: MVL Expansion?
Yeah I’d think Zanesville wants in a league with Logan around Columbusteach1coach2 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2018 5:20 pm Since River View left the MVL in 2004 there have been teams from Licking, Hocking, Washington, Coshocton, Muskingum, Guernsey, and Tuscarawas that have "applied" to be in the MVL. Re: MVL Expansion?
The most recent"rumor" and not confirmed by the league itself is that River View, Coshocton and Meadowbrook were invited to add three more schools and have until end of Bball to decide. If one of them rejects, Cambridge was informed they would be invited in their stead.
That leaves an ECOL conference scrambling and would be ahead to try and pick up Warren and one other to stay in a functioning capacity. If Dover and New Philly leave for their old conference, all bets are off and those schools left will be faced with no choice but the OVAC just like Warren had to do..
Zanesville has a solid rumor at getting into a new league involving Logan and Lancaster as well as some OCC teams. It's why the OCC moved quickly to reorganize I guess.

Go Bucks! Go Bengals!
Go Cavs! Go Reds! Go Indians!

Re: MVL Expansion?
The OCC teams are not going anywhere. They just voted the other night for realignment and it was overwhelmingly approved. There is hope the ones that voted no could still be viable, but when the smoke clears they will most likely also stay put imo.

Re: MVL Expansion?
The proposed new league may or may or happen, but the OCC vote would have nothing to do with it.
The OCC has to realign because Olentangy Berlin opens in the fall and had to be placed. The Pickerington school wanted to be separated.
Lancaster, RBurg, Newark, and Groveport all voted yes b/c this alignment is better for them. They all know the occ will align again soon, and they may not like that alignment.
Canal Winchester voted no fwiw.

Re: MVL Expansion?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought Groveport Madison was one of the 5 schools, along with Canal Winchester, to vote no to the realignment.loganlocos wrote: ↑Sat Feb 17, 2018 9:20 pmThe proposed new league may or may or happen, but the OCC vote would have nothing to do with it.

Re: MVL Expansion?
That is correct, and reports were the Groveport and Canal were a "block" vote so to speak and wanted to stay in the same division. They were seperated hence the "no" votes.GoBucks1047 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 18, 2018 2:15 pmCorrect me if I'm wrong, but I thought Groveport Madison was one of the 5 schools, along with Canal Winchester, to vote no to the realignment.loganlocos wrote: ↑Sat Feb 17, 2018 9:20 pmThe proposed new league may or may or happen, but the OCC vote would have nothing to do with it.

Re: MVL Expansion?
I'd like to be the first to welcome the new members. 2 divisions should give a lot more teams a (realistic) chance to win a title in the MVL.
