D2 Boys Baseball Sectional/District Outlook
Since we can't play due to all the weather, may as well discuss and speculate the local teams for Sectionals and Districts.
On the good news front, if I read the OHSAA brackets correctly OU will be hosting the regionals this year instead of that minefield in Zanesville, which is about 5 years overdue, but apparently they finally concurred with every fan that ever went there and watched a game.
I think Unioto has to be the favorite at this point, any other predictions?

Re: D2 Boys Baseball Sectional/District Outlook
Zane Trace 11-1
Miami Trace 8-1
Washington Court House 5-1
Athens 9-2
Unioto 9-2
Marietta 6-2
Waverly 9-4
Didn't Zane Trace win over Unioto 11-10? I would think ZT should be considered one of the favorites also.
These are the records that I have been able to track. If any of them are incorrect, please post. Thanks!

I’m glad Wayne finally got it in Athens. Those East District people wouldn’t give up on the Zanesville dump

Zane Trace is new to D2 in our district this year I think, definitely a contender and the FAC teams of Miami Trace-Washington have good records also as do some others. Howell on the mound at Waverly gives them a chance in most games, and Athens definitely in the mix also.a_c_m wrote: ↑Tue Apr 17, 2018 1:33 pm Miami Trace 8-1

Jackson and Chillicothe can beat some teams also if they get some momentum and get hot. Don't know much about Sheridan, Marietta and Fairfield Union but they seem to always be in the mix as well.

Hillsboro
Logan Elm

South Projected Seeding Tiers:
Unioto-Zane Trace-Waverly-Athens
Warren-Marietta
Gallia-Jackson
Vinton County-Alexander
Not sure there is a lot of separation in some of those groupings.
Something like this depending how season plays out once it stops snowing lol?

I sent an e-mail to the OHSAA last year stating that it was unsafe to keep playing in Zanesville, unless you liked buying crack cocaine on your way to the park and thought it was safe to do so.doubleplay643 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 17, 2018 12:55 pm Since we can't play due to all the weather, may as well discuss and speculate the local teams for Sectionals and Districts.

Re: D2 Boys Baseball Sectional/District Outlook
I was very pleased to hear that the OHSAA was finally going to pull the trigger and move the Regional from Zanesville's Gant Stadium to OU's Bob Wren Stadium. Jerry Snodgrass saw me walking through a lobby in Columbus back in January and invited me to come over and sit with him, where he was again very apologetic for the circus we had to endure at the Regional Final game last spring, when our game was halted in the middle of the first inning because the site director thought the Home/Away teams were reversed. After 20 minutes of argument and a phone call from the field to Jerry at OHSAA, we finally resumed and there was never an issue to begin with. Besides all the obvious things that people have mentioned year after year, such as getting hit with line drives flying through the holes in the batting cage and the makeshift L-screens (I tied one back together with my belt 2 years ago), I believe the fiasco of last year's game may have finally been the straw that broke the camel's back. One thing is for certain, based on the way Wayne runs the District events at Bob Wren, the Regional experience there will be top quality and memorable (in positive ways, unlike the most recent memory I carry with me from Gant ).93Bulldog wrote: ↑Tue Apr 17, 2018 3:45 pmI sent an e-mail to the OHSAA last year stating that it was unsafe to keep playing in Zanesville, unless you liked buying crack cocaine on your way to the park and thought it was safe to do so.doubleplay643 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 17, 2018 12:55 pm Since we can't play due to all the weather, may as well discuss and speculate the local teams for Sectionals and Districts.
