So - out of mostly curiosity, Irontons student enrollment is currently around 400 students and has remained flat over about the past four years. Prior to that Ironton experienced a decrease in enrollment of around 100 students during about a five year span.

Ironton ( town) averages a little over a 2% decrease in population. The average demographic in Ironton is a 42 year old male.

Irontons poverty rate as a town has increased as their graduation rate at Ironton High has decreased and currently operates below the national average.

Ironton for all intents and purposes as a town shows no sign of any significant spike in population which means the enrollment ( approx 400 students) that has remained flat over about a four year period is due to experience a similar decrease as they did between 2007 - 12 when they dropped around 100 students. Give or take.

All that said - when Ironton decreases again to 300 or 250 total student enrollment - which will essentially result in Irontons football team roster totaling around 30 kids - will this alleged hire really have the impact currently being advertised on this thread?

Seems to me this is ultimately fodder before the inevitable.

Well then, lets just shut the town down, the school down and everyone go their separate ways. Move the county seat to Proctorville and bulldoze what is left of the town into the Ohio River. Big Carl has deemed there is no hope for Ironton so why bother?

These same statistics can be said about majority of Southern Ohio schools. Enrollment is falling everywhere. People are leaving due to not being able to find employment. Once our economy gets rolling and the infrastructure gets going watch and see if people don’t start moving back into the area. Also the war on drugs is about to really take hold and you will see a dramatic decrease.

To answer your last question. I have a feeling people are going to be pleasantly surprised with the hire. Some people in life are made to be leaders while some are made to be followers. This is why some business leaders flourish and some don’t. This is why some people accomplish dreams and others just fall
Into line. What we have hired here is a kid that is a leader and people will gravitate to him. Ironton is in very good hands.
Remember the people who said this down the road.

Hell , according to this guy we may as well just consolidate the western end of Lawrence County to have enough players to have a football team. I’d say we call it the rock hill fighting hornets. 😂

Speaking of drugs, what are you taking? What infrastructure? And how do you see/think that the war on drugs is about to take hold?

This administration has already cracked down on the drug epidemic and its only going to increase. More people working mean less drugs. Also the factories are going to start opening back up especially the steel factories. Just wait

Best of luck to Coach Pendleton. If kids leave then so be it. They can go. The rebuild will be a marathon not a sprint. It will be a complete culture change, and will be more about the kids coming up more than anything. The players immersed in the old system are potential distractions anyway if they aren't all in. Hopefully that is not the case, the players will stay, and give Coach Pendleton and the program an opportunity to succeed immediately. I will hold judgment until perhaps the sophomores become seniors.

Aren’t you the one that transferred your daughter to Burg for a better opportunity and you didn’t like the coach?

Don’t blame him. There is huge difference in a kid leaving a school because it would be better for her, then say someone who gets mad every year and threatens to leave if his kid is not put in the spot he wants him at. But if you have transferred your child how can you pass judgment on any other player that wants to get out of this chaos that the BOE has caused. Not because of coaching, but because here we are almost May and still have no football coach and waiting on the 4th choice to be hired. How could the BOE expect this young man who has never been head coach be prepared in 4 weeks before Football starts? 🙄

Worked pretty well for Coal Grove last year. Pretty sure there's been other school's in the past it's worked for.

Anyone looking to transfer to burg is looking for a better opportunity to be on a Team. Anyone transferring out is looking to be THE girl or guy somewhere else.

State Championship, State Runner Up, full ride. Great move. The young lady was a class act, great teammate . She would have been fine no matter where she played highschool ball. If you want a chance to compete for a state championship in softball the burg isn’t a bad place to be right now😄

I think you may want to re read what I posted. I don’t blame him a bit for transferring his daughter. But don’t talk about other kids that may transfer because of this mess that the BOE has made. It’s not just the athletic department that is in chaos. It’s the educational system also. Now re read what I actually wrote and I think you will understand. And by the way, I wasn’t sure that this was the girls dad, but thanks.
