So as an outsider looking in, I would think that seeing discipline, hard work, effort, positive attitudes, kids enjoying playing the game, parents and administration supporting the new coach and staff would go a long way in getting their program back to where all the Ironton faithfuls want it to be. I do wish Pendleton luck and hope he has a lot of success there.

Correct. However its important to understand any success will be on a significantly smaller scale amd in much smaller increments than years passed. Its vital to adjust expectations accordingly.

Per the above in 5 years or so you will be around 300 total enrollment or just below.

The roster will dip from 40 to around 30 or so - and so on and so on.

This is just the truth. I have no emotional investment whatsoever. The question is still valid and relevant to the discussion.

There is only so much a coach or coaches can do. They cannot change any of these applicable factors.

So what should your TRUE and realistic expectations be?

The new coach may prove to be the next Bob Lutz for Ironton; I wish the entire Tiger clan the best.

But Carlito is describing something that I have also observed, guys. Higher Population density and familial stability (usually most affected by finances) compared to your divisional peers are the keys to long term football success, certainly in the smaller divisions.

Ironton is dropping by both metrics. To say this is true is NOT saying that there are no kids in stable situations; it is merely saying that there are fewer in those good situations across the district.
