Re: 2018 Jackson Ironmen Football Outlook
I don't always agree with Solomon says. I believe that it would not be intellectually honest to totally dismiss what he/she said. He/She raises a good point, what is or what will be the dynamic of the team with the inclusion of several players and one for only one year? I am sure that kids may embrace the young man, however, parents may be a differing story. And what is said behind closed doors and is whispered in back alleys or over weekly family dinners who is to say.
Re: 2018 Jackson Ironmen Football Outlook
It’s Ironmen football and getting close to the start of the season. The talk is about winning!!! If a player will help us win then that player will play. That’s how coaches win !!! PLAY THE BEST SIT THE REST. It’s called competition and you reward the winners.
Re: 2018 Jackson Ironmen Football Outlook
When Jackson has been very good, they’ve been able to play 18-22 guys on offense and defense (not including special teams). If Jackson had 20 good football players that would’ve played, before the transfers, they’ll play 22 now. That’s how great football works.
I don’t see Little Johnny losing his spot to transfers, but I do foresee Johnny losing his spot to a youngster. Maybe worry more about that. I personally don’t think Jackson is extremely deep even with adding 2 transfers. I think they’re still going to have to play some young talent.

I don't totally Disagree with the depth. The junior and senior classes have lost a lot of talent over the years with kids not playing anymore . I do think Jackson defense will be top shelf with some good backups . The O line will be thin and a working progress. If the incoming freshmen can help then let em play like Ironmen44 said Jackson football is about winning football games.

Should be one of the more experienced teams in a while. A lot of seniors and juniors and a few sophomores will see some action.

The answer is consolidation
Bring in that beef from wellston and the skill from oak hill to complement the superior intellect of the Ironman student body and you will see our county crank out multiple state titles

The BEST thing about people from Wellston is that they have JACKSON on their license plates!

Jackson defense will be around 185-225lb but super fast and aggressive as always .
Should be a dandy game. Can't wait !

Re: 2018 Jackson Ironmen Football Outlook
Coldwater is D6 this year but similar to Wheelersburg with even more playoff success. In state championship several times in very recent years. They have won 3 consecutive state championships from 2012-2014 and 8 straight years in state championship....39 playoff wins in the last decade. Mostly all D5 and some D4
Chaminade Julienne a D3 that made regional finals last year.
Bellbrook a D3 with a 7-3 record last year
Greenville a D3 but just 2-8 last year

Re: 2018 Jackson Ironmen Football Outlook
It’s getting closer and closer to Aug 1st....
Lost a huge weapon at kicker, lost a lot on their line to say the least and their playmaking RB/CB.
I jokingly call them Linebacker U....seems like they have 10 kids that would be really good linebackers but will play DL, DB and CB. I think we’ll be a little faster than normal on defense and defense really really should be stout against run and also the pass. Some depth but not a ton...but good.
Offense...got a ton of kids who could get touches via carry or reception. I’m not savvy on who the 5 starting lineman are but figure Ruckel and Mercer will lead the way. There is a kid who could be a nice young center. They may need some older players to step up if the younger players can’t fill in for the line.I could see a couple different kids who don’t play line....but would likely really solidify things. The coaching staff will make it work and have the plays needed for what suits them best.
Losing Benson as kicker is big on the coaches and players. He was a huge weapon just kicking into endzone most every time. I don’t know who will kick but doubt that will be the case and therefore the coverage team will have to be good and disciplined.
It’s going to be an interesting season. As spoiled fans we expect 8-2 and a playoff berth. Enough talent appears to be there and coaching staff has been there and done that. I won’t be surprised if they go 9-1. Regardless, I’ll be there every week cheering them on.
