Wow what name calling? And the reason there are 7 divisions in football in ohio is because the enrollment of the student body it has nothing to do with the size of a football team smdh!CavalierAlum05 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 29, 2018 11:24 amyes, that is is exactly what i am implying. what the hell are divisions for you moron? based on the programs that these two are at currently and the fact that PRIVATE schools DOMINATE high school football and that they are 2 divisions above you make it FACT that they are BIGGER FASTER and STRONGER than you. This isnt a debate buddy. It is FACT. We are not comparing a mediocre program like Chillicothe D2 to a powerhouse D5. We are comparing a Powerhouse D5 to a Powerhouse D3. ANDDDDD an urban private school at that. If you think you have recruited well down along the banks of the mighty Ohio river, wait until you see what that catholic money can do.wobycat wrote: ↑Wed Aug 29, 2018 10:58 amSo basically, you have no idea. You're implying that the 11 on the field of Burg will automatically be less stronger, faster, and bigger based on the area and division they live in, and oh I forgot, your eye test. No offense, but that's goobly talk.CavalierAlum05 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 29, 2018 10:31 am
Pretty easy actually. D3 > D5
Columbus > Rural southern Ohio
and most importantly I have seen Hartley the past two years and Burg the past two years. I saw Burg 3 times last year actually at The O.
"bigger, faster, stronger"
Burg is no slouch of a program, and kudos to schedule up and prepare yourself for playoffs. But dont be offended by realistic expectations.
If Hartley wins, it will be because of those things becoming evident during the actual game; not in your per-determined facts based on absolutely no merit.

Idk why you guys let a Chillicothe dude get you so flustered. He’s just mad that Burg can actually pull this off and not get demolished like his beloved Cavaliers.

Re: WK 2: Wheelersburg @ Columbus Bishop Hartley
I agree Vic. I’ve also seen a little of the Hartley film. They ran the ball late because the game was out of reach. They kept it respectable. In the first half they spread it out after getting down a couple scores. For me, LBs have to play lights out along with Donini and the DEs. This will definitely be a 4 quarter ball game. I’d be surprised with anything more than a 17-14 ball game either way.victor creed wrote: ↑Wed Aug 29, 2018 1:55 pm As "rural southern Ohio" goes. A 36 game regular season winning streak, (Longest currently in the state) 4 straight regional championship appearances. Defending state champs in 2017, that's getting pretty close to dynasty potential. Especially when you factor in the rest of the tradition from years past. I don't have an issue with any of the posts by guys like like cavsalum or rolltanks I think they are certainly entitled to their opinion but I have seen Hartley on film this year and while they look solid I don't see a team burg can't play with. Maybe a lot of what I see has to do with Toledo cc. But this is absolutely a winnable game for wheelersburg. I think they have to stop the run inside the tackles to have a chance. Even when down 3 scores against TCC. Hartley continued to run the ball. No panic in the play calling. They will be very patient and flat out run it down your Throat. Burg has to block the front 3. #57 is a load. And the linebackers pursue very well and as expected the backs and secondary is athletic. Have to give Trent time to throw it. And we have to have positive yardage on 1st down. It's going to be a 4 quarter game.

I apologize for not giving Wheelersburg their appropriate due. Beating Jackson regularly is nice. 2 titles in 29 years is quite an accomplishment, until you compare it to St. Ignatius in Cleveland. Or Coldwater and Marion Local in the MAC. Or LaSalle in Cincinnati. I'm sure to those schools, playoff appearances and league titles mean something, but not nearly as much as the State Championship trophy. Wheelersburg has 'built' a nice program, but please keep things in perspective. You are a big fish in a small pond, until you win games like you will have tomorrow on a regular basis.Proud_Pirate63 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 29, 2018 1:52 pm2 titles in 29 year to be more precise. Come Friday night after The Burg knocks Hartley off the pedestal that everyone has them on, I bet I get back on here to nothing but crickets or “well Hartley must be down this year” talk. Wheelersburg is always doubted no matter what they accomplish. Our players, coaches, and “The Burg faithful” KNOW what this team is capable of doing and the any doubters KNOW what they can do with their doubt.Big Bob wrote: ↑Wed Aug 29, 2018 1:33 pm While I applaud Wheelersburg for playing teams like Hartley, I think for those of us who aren't Pirate faithful, until you beat a team like Hartley, we're going to doubt. You may have played them close in the past, but this year isn't the past. Now, I know that goes both ways, but you have to beat them before others will believe. Yes, Wheelersburg is the reigning D5 state champions, but 1 title in 30 years does not a dynasty make. You may have experience playing in games like this, but Hartley has more experience WINNING games like this. All you can do is see what the result is Friday night.

No. You’re wrong blitz. We are supposed to be ashamed of all that. That’s nothing compared to state titles. Last I checked it’s been a few years since ANYONE in SEO has brought home a TITLE, until last year. Haters gonna hate. That’s the way it is.

Also Blitz. I just noticed something. If Burg win Friday, they will play Heath at Home the next week for the 500th win in program history. That would be pretty special.
Edit:
Or better yet, this is not a current running and Burg can secure its 500th on Friday by shutting mouths across the state.

Not hating on Wheelersburg. Just looking at things in perspective to the entire state. The Pirates are top dog in southeast Ohio, but in the entire state, when compared to schools of similar size, you've still got a ways to go. In my humble opinion, State Championships mean more than league titles and overall playoff appearances. Take the MAC, for example. Coldwater has 6 state football titles, St. Henry has 6, Marion Local has 10, Delphos St. Johns has 6, Minster has 3. And these teams are from 1 conference that has only been in existence since 1973. The conference has had a state champion in football in 14 out of the last 15 years, with several years having 2 and even 3 title winners. Winning last year was great for Wheelersburg, beating Hartley tomorrow will be great for the program. But being an elite program on the state level, well, you're not there yet.
Re: WK 2: Wheelersburg @ Columbus Bishop Hartley
No offense, but how is being top 7 in playoff appearances and top 4 winning % not elite? Burg only has two rings, I get it but they are a top tier program regardless of division.Big Bob wrote: ↑Thu Aug 30, 2018 9:07 am Not hating on Wheelersburg. I figure we are going to see the dawg in some players come out Friday night. Burg is definitely a better team than they showed last Friday. 47 hours can’t wait!!!
The burg has weapons so keep this game close or even go up a score or 2 they just need to utilize them, I'm sure this will be a big game for Holden, get your best player the ball at the important times

Re: WK 2: Wheelersburg @ Columbus Bishop Hartley
After going back and watching week one there were undoubtedly some things that raised concern. IMO once Burg went up 21-0, I think the intensity dropped off significantly. I think they thought they would continue to run away with the game at at no point was Ironton a threat. Hats off to Ironton for fighting for four quarters and exposing some of burgs weaknesses when their intensity let up. I think that will pay dividends for Burg going forward and Ironton will win a lot of games this year.
As for this week, I do believe this is a winnable game. Hartley never lacks speed or toughness and is very well coached. After watching them against TCC, there is not a lot to take away. TCC is a very talented team who simply played better in every phase than did Hartley, and were truly better than them at every position. I've watched burg practice this week and the intensity/speed is significantly different than it was last week. Whether it is the coaches doing, or just the excitement of playing a new/extremely talented team, I do believe the Burg will have a shot at this one. I think they know this would slingshot them into the middle of their season with a lot of confidence and put Wheelersburg on the map (if they aren't already).
I see this being very close with neither team winning by more than 10-14pts.
Prediction:
Wheelersburg 28
Hartley 21

Re: WK 2: Wheelersburg @ Columbus Bishop Hartley
I'll give you that Wheelersburg has had great regular season success. But it's in the playoffs that the elite are identified. Using the MAC as a comparison (unfair to compare the MAC to anyone, but the schools are relatively the same size as those in SE Ohio) look at the overall playoff success of those teams I mentioned above. Coldwater has a 71-17 record in playoffs with 6 titles; Marion 72-10 with 10 titles; St. Johns 54-12 with 6 titles; St. Henry 44-10 with 6 titles; Minster 30-13 with 3 titles. The MAC overall is 294-76 in playoff games with a winning percentage of 79.45%, (rises to 85.62% in games against non-MAC foes), 33-12 in state title games. 9 of 10 teams have at least a .500 record in the playoffs. This is elite. Again, just one persons' opinion. And, in the grand scheme of things, my opinion is worth very little.wobycat wrote: ↑Thu Aug 30, 2018 9:12 amNo offense, but how is being top 7 in playoff appearances and top 4 winning % not elite? i am a lifetime burg fan, however this year I am highly disappointed. We scheduled way to hard. i have also heard rumors of Portsmouth west forfeiting every game just to have practice time for week 10. I expect bishop Hartley to beat us so bad we will be crying for our mommas, and the same for portsmouth west. gonna be a hard year for the burg.

Burg is losing big time in this one. Their seniors are too full of them self after winning state. I say the score will be 52-14.
Re: WK 2: Wheelersburg @ Columbus Bishop Hartley
If burg gets steam rolled who cares?? If burg wins who cares? This game will not make or break this season! It is simply a very tough opponent that will test the pirates in all phases of the game. That is how you get better.. I am a big pirate fan. It wouldn’t hurt my feelings if burg got beat 100-0. I know these coaches and kids will learn from it and use it to get better every week. As for my final prediction of the game I’ll take the pirates by a score.

Exactly how I see it if they win or lose, if they lose and say they beat watterson and jackson, they went 2-1 against DIII schools so they can compete up in divisions however if they win big mo is on their side for what could be the rest of the season
