Ironton and Russell trading possessions several times doing very little, except penalties GALORE!
There are 40 seconds left in 1st quarter and ihs has +7 yards.
Russell has-12.

Ironton ends first quarter allowing a 15 yard run to its own 49 with a face mask on last play.

Russell will start 2 nd quarter at iHS 44 yard line.

Ihs with 8 penalties for 60 yards. Offsides, dead ball, offsides & more. Russell threatening.
9:24 in second. Timeout Russell @ IHS 15 yard line 2nd down.

Not sure how true but I was told it was one of the worst officiated games ever lol.

I listened from Orlando to every second, obviously! Ironton had many self inflicted dead ball fouls.

At least 6-7.

They had over 65 yards before half in penalties.!
Probably about 4 missed holds against Russell. A couple late hits not called here and there. It was the Ironton broadcast & they were classy saying both squads got bad calls for and against that just were unnecessary. The first half both offenses only moved the ball via the opponents defensive penalties. More yards in penalties for each than offense for each at half &/or very close!

Ironton showed long drive sustainability like against burg twice in second quarter to shoot own foot. Ihs allowed several long passes and a long run after half to keep Russell alive, BUT Ihs D won the game!

Not really Southeastern Ohio but up north in what was one of the best anticipated games in Ohio, coldwater is up 21-14 on Clinton Massie. Game has 11 minutes remaining and has been on lightning delay for a couple hours now. Big computer points for both teams but it’s a 2 hour bus ride for either so this game may go down as a final.

I’m not sure of rules but I think this game has to have a decision made by midnight?

There is no such rule, for what it’s worth. Five years ago, I was at a week one game that did not finalize until 12:30am because of weather delays.

Coldwater 31-28 Clinton Massie final.

Two, very strong programs. I noticed many MAC schools are 2-0. Pretty much the usual contenders.

There’s no reason SE Obio’s Love of HSFB cannot replicate this scenario and contend for annual “lofty” runs deep into to the playoffs.

Burg got it reinvigorated after The exit of Lutz at IHS.
Other schools are picking up great coaches in the SOC, OVC, TVC as well as others!
So my hope is that other schools replicate this and breeds undeniable passion into the sport many of us love.

It’s impressive how good the MAC schools are because the towns are basically villages as we see in Southeast Ohio. A bucket list game for any high school football fan should be coldwater vs Marion Local. Winning split the pot there is the equivalent of the lottery lol. Massie plays Bishop Hartley in like 3 weeks. Kudos to them and burg for the tough scheduling.

The small towns in northwest Ohio are not like the ones in southeast Ohio. Maria Stein has about 3 percent free or assisted lunch for students, Southeastern Ohio close to 90 percent in some of our schools. Household median income thousands of dollars more as well as property values.. Unemployment rates much lower. Two parent households much more common. Large number of Catholic families in which divorce is not common.
