Re: Scout.com reports Meyer, OSU agree to deal.
WOW where do I start?
Peake are you seriuosly going to take the stance that we are not going to be WAY better this year?
If we go worse than 10-2 reg season I will run down HIGH STREET NUDE wearing a sign that reads hit me I am stupid!
OSU will be better in every aspect of the game this year EXCEPT CENTER but overall line play has to get better. for gods sake we were one of the worst OL in the nation nowhere to go but UP!
WR - everyone is back plus new talent so they will be better. I know I know "YOU LOST POSEY" not so FAST my friend! He played in exactly 3 games of which we went 1-2. So what did we really lose?????
QB - Freshman QB in Bollman offense vs. Sophmore QB in Meyers offense ??? I wont even quantify this one
RB - Just look at the roster our 4th deep starts at your place
TE - best in BIG TEN
I am to tired to breakdown the entire D so i will touch on a few high points.
LB - was horrible last year you will see new blood this year no less than 7 by comittee look for the young guys to play alot cant get worse than last year.
Mark it down our front 4 (really 8) will be the best in the Big Ten hands down (maybe the nation)
Peake you are just delusional if you dont agree with this. I know the sting of how our recruiting went hurts the UM fans. Especially since HOKE flopped his way to a disappointing finish. While OSU flipped thier way to an elite finish.
Keep teeling yourselves this cause I will call it RIGHT NOW OSU by 21+ at the shoe this year. Personally I think we go 12-0. Not because we are that good. But because we have a very favorable schedule. UM is the best we play and as stated we will GUT STOMP UM!

WOW where do I start?
Yes please start
Peake are you seriuosly going to take the stance that we are not going to be WAY better this year?
I said you would win 8, is that not better then 6?
If we go worse than 10-2 reg season I will run down HIGH STREET NUDE wearing a sign that reads hit me I am stupid!
not looking forward to this
OSU will be better in every aspect of the game this year EXCEPT CENTER but overall line play has to get better. for gods sake we were one of the worst OL in the nation nowhere to go but UP!
So your argument is you will be better because you were awful. That is how I am supposed to be convinced that you will have a top caliber OL like standard at OSU, because last years sucked?
WR - everyone is back plus new talent so they will be better. I know I know "YOU LOST POSEY" not so FAST my friend! He played in exactly 3 games of which we went 1-2. So what did we really lose?????
I get your thinking here, but last year your wideouts weren't very good. I would say average to slightly above average. When Posey did come back it became so obvious how average they were without him. Will they be imporved, sure, are they the best in the Big Ten, no chance.
QB - Freshman QB in Bollman offense vs. Sophmore QB in Meyers offense ??? I wont even quantify this one
Good for Braxton, he will be better, I expect him to be.
RB - Just look at the roster our 4th deep starts at your place
You're an idiot. Fitz Toussaint just ran wild on you and ran for over 1000 in 6 games. He is better then any back you have. Jordan Hall is Vincent Smith. Hyde is Hopkins. Maybe Dunn will make up the difference, but you are crazy if you think any back you have is better then Fitz. Are your runningbacks better then MSU, Wisconsin? No and sure as hell aren't better then Michigan.
TE - best in BIG TEN
I don't know enough about the other TE's in the league, but I will say OK and take your word for it. BTW Fragel is an OT.
I am to tired to breakdown the entire D so i will touch on a few high points.
LB - was horrible last year you will see new blood this year no less than 7 by comittee look for the young guys to play alot cant get worse than last year.
This position has THE WORST TALENT OSU HAS SEEN IN 20 years. Try and debate that. Go back, look at all of the LB's you've produced to the NFL, and tell me this group is even close. Michigan State, Wisconsin, and possibly PSU have better LB's and it isn't even close with MSU.
Mark it down our front 4 (really 8) will be the best in the Big Ten hands down (maybe the nation).
Really? Because you had 1 good recruiting class, that was just SLIGHTLY better then UM's DL class, now you have the best DL in the country. Sure. I guess LSU and Mingo and Sam Montgomery would probably disagree, maybe Bama. You see all of the DL kids (Wormley, Pipkins, Strobel were all offered by OSU). Good for you on paper your DL class is awesome and that will automatically make you better then everyone in the conference and psossibly the nation. Go ask Golston at MSU if he cares anything about that. MSU's DL will be stupid good next year.
Peake you are just delusional if you dont agree with this. I know the sting of how our recruiting went hurts the UM fans. Especially since HOKE flopped his way to a disappointing finish. While OSU flipped thier way to an elite finish.
I must be because so far you have told me that because you sucked at certain positions you can't go anywhere but up, which I agree with, but it still doesn't make you a standard OSU team based on talent. If you think because you had one class who is ranked 1 position higher then Michigan I should feel like we are in trouble now, well good luck with that. You beat us for 1 kid down the stretch (Reeves) congrats. OSU did an excellent job of taking advantage of PSU's circumstances and flipping 4 of their kids, good for you. Hoke flopped because he already has 22 committed before signing day, and then got a kid out of Glenville and a 4-star RB, and possibly a 5-star OT tomorrow. Poor us.
Keep teeling yourselves this cause I will call it RIGHT NOW OSU by 21+ at the shoe this year. Personally I think we go 12-0. Not because we are that good. But because we have a very favorable schedule. UM is the best we play and as stated we will GUT STOMP UM!
Excellent, a southern hill jack saying. I am impressed. Yes, you believe you go 12-0, a good majority of you were singing the same tune last season saying your going to win the Big Ten. You won 6 games. I said we would win 9, we won 11. Be realistic, look at your team objectively. You won't see me saying we are going 13-0 and marching to the NC. No we have holes to fill, we lost the top Center in the country, we lost our top TE and WR. We lost our two best DT's. I get that. We play Bama, probably going to take one on the chin. Good news is the only game I am really concerned about outside of that one is MSU (at home) and Ohio State (because it is The Game). We could easily go 8-4 next year. I am not saying we won't, we could just as easily go 11-1. We will see. But good God some of you grow up and look at things like adults.
Re: Scout.com reports Meyer, OSU agree to deal.
I am not going come out and say OSU will be worldbeater's next year, but if anybody thinks they won't be vastly improved over last year they need to lay off the hippie lettuce, just having an experienced QB coming back alone will make up for a lot of the inexperience at other positions,I would be very surprised if they had 3 or more losses next year because the schedule is very forgiving.

I love the enthusiasm, but it's quite early. Let's at least see the spring game before we go nuts!!!
Re: Scout.com reports Meyer, OSU agree to deal.
I agree C-Bolt, and me saying 8 wins is not an insult. I agree OSU could have easily been 9-3, and easily been 4-8 too. Don't forget the hail mary and Toledo. I mean things could have gotten a lot better or a lot worse.

Re: Scout.com reports Meyer, OSU agree to deal.
I will tell you though, with no chance at a bowl or a conference title. The internal team goal is to beat the hell out of everyone. And let the conference and the NCAA know that the best 2 teams aren't in the BCS title game!
It's a great goal, a little lofty, but heck it's the goal!
If Hoke thought it was unfair this year when Meyer was allowed to hire the staff and recruit while Fickell prepped for the bowl, then what kind of crying will Martin and Hoke do when once The Game is over, the entire OSU staff has nothing to do but recruit!!!
No bowl = No Bowl Practice!!!
Which would help the current players, but hinder recruiting.
Next December is early closing time!

From College Football Talk on MSNBC:
Bielema confronted Urban over recruiting tactics
Posted by John Taylor on February 2, 2012, 2:24 PM EST
In the two months following his hiring by Ohio State, Urban Meyer took what was shaping up to be a middle-of-the-road recruiting class and turned it into a consensus top-five group by the time National Signing Day 2012 had been put to bed.
In getting to as high as No. 3 in the Scout.com rankings, Meyer and his coaching staff flipped several highly-touted recruits, including some who had been verbally committed to other Big Ten schools. Penn State, Wisconsin and Michigan State all felt the Meyer Effect in one way or the other on the recruiting trail, and it was the latter two programs that have not been shy about expressing their “displeasure†with the recruiting tactics that have brought to the conference.
Wednesday, Cleveland Heights (Ohio) offensive tackle Kyle Dodson announced that he was signing a Letter of Intent with Ohio State. The four-star lineman had been a verbal commitment to UW since last June, but began to lean toward OSU after Meyer came on board.
While not specifically addressing the Dodson flip, UW head coach Bret Bielema told reporters that he had prior concerns over what he considered recruiting tactics on the part of the new OSU regime that were — his word — illegal. As a result, Bielema claims to have spoken to Meyer about the situation and resolved whatever issue there was.
“There’s a few things that happened early on that I made people be aware of, that I didn’t want to see in this league, that I had seen take place in other leagues,†Bielema said during his signing day press conference yesterday. “Other recruiting tactics, other recruiting practices, that are illegal.
“I was very upfront, very pointed to the fact — actually reached out to coach Meyer and shared my thoughts and concerns with him. The situation got rectified.â€
One of the issues — albeit not an illegal one — is Meyer “breaking†an unwritten agreement among Big Ten coaches in which, once a prospect commits to a program in the conference, other coaches decline to actively recruit the player. Meyer “broke†that “gentleman’s agreement†in the case of Dodson, as well as in the recruitment of Se’Von Pittman.
The four-star Canton, Oh., defensive end had long been a Michigan State commit, but flipped to the Buckeyes after Meyer’s hiring. Like Bielema, the Spartans took issue with Meyer doing something that “Jim Tressel and Mark Dantonio would never†do: “call or talk to each other’s commitments.â€
“It sets a tone and starts a recruiting rivalry,†MSU defensive coordinator Pat Narduzzi said the Monday before signing day. “I guess it’s fair game. You don’t want it to be that way, but that’s how it is.â€
Narduzzi went on to add that “you lose friendships over that.†We’re guessing that Meyer’s not going to be losing a lot of sleep over the loss of conference friends.
At his post-signing day press conference, Meyer explained the process of continuing to recruit a player who’s already given a verbal elsewhere.
“Sometimes they say, ‘How can you go recruit a young guy committed to another school?’†Meyer said. “You ask a question, ‘Are you interested?’ If they say, ‘No,’ you move on. If they say, ‘Yes, very interested,’ then you throw that hook out there. If they’re interested, absolutely [you recruit them], especially from your home state. Is it gratifying to take a guy from another school? Not at all.â€
While it may be “pretty unethical†what Meyer is doing, at least in comparison to how business has been conducted in the Big Ten in the past, it is far from illegal and is not going anywhere. So, if the rest of the conference — Michigan notwithstanding; they’re doing just fine thank you very much — wants to avoid being run roughshod over on an annual basis in the recruiting game, they might want to consider adjusting to the new “recruiting rules†in the conference.
OSU’s hated rival already has; I’d suggest the rest of the conference respond in kind. For better or worse, Meyer has brought an SEC way to the Big Ten recruiting trail. Keep up, or future signing day tramplings could very well in the offing.

Re: Scout.com reports Meyer, OSU agree to deal.
Ol Bert Belima and his 12 kid class!!!!
Here's how the call went down when Bert reached out to Meyer:
Bert: "Coach, we do some things differ..."
Meyer: "Who the hell is this?"
Bert: "It's coach Bilema, I wanted to..."
Meyer: "If Dodson didn't sign with us, he was leaving you for USC!"
Bert: "But coach, I wanted to clear up this gentleman's..."
Meyer: "Son, gentlemen don't win wars, and I'm not playing to lose, now shut up and clean my boots!"
Then Bert Belima cried in his pillow to awake the next morning and declare the matter resolved!

Re: Scout.com reports Meyer, OSU agree to deal.
And another thing Ol Pat Narduzi needs to realize!
Once Dantonio got to MSU, if there was a recruit that Tressel couldn't land, he steered them to Mark and MSU do that Michigan didn't close them. It's a tradition that Woody had with getting guys to look at Notre Dame!
Mark Dantonio has to credit a portion of his success at MSU to the leftovers that Tress sent him. Tressel played a role in getting Gholston to MSU! Pat Narduzi should consider this everytime his boy gets a sack!
That "gentleman's agreement" was brought up by Tressel!

Re: Scout.com reports Meyer, OSU agree to deal.
Agree 100%. There is no gentleman's agreement. Michigan has flipped Roy Roundtree from Purdue, Mike Shaw from PSU, Chad Heene from PSU, Russell Bellomey from Purdue, Kyle Kalis from OSU, Ricky Barnum from Florida, Justice Hayes from Notre Dame, Courtney Avery from Stanford, Keith Hietzman from Vandy.
All the while having kids like Dee Hart poached by Bama, Bryce McNeal by Clemson, etc.
It happens.
How did Tressel get Gholston to MSU? I disagree on that. Gholston was a 5-star top player in the state. He went there because his coach at Southern graduated from there, and then got a job conveniently after at MSU.

Re: Scout.com reports Meyer, OSU agree to deal.
Tressel didn't "get" him to MSU, but OSU staff that visited Gholston praised Dantonio's defensive mindset and values. They never said, "hey we can't get you, how about you sign with MSU", but they helped highlight Dantonio and downplay UM.
Many times when a player that OSU asked showed no interest in being a Buckeye, Tress made a friendly phone call to Mark and recommended he take a look and consider the player.
Like I said before its a move Woody did countless times with ND. He always steered guys from UM to ND.
