I remember watching Ironton in the old S.E.O.A.L they used to beat my home town team Wellston , but always was respectful and treated us nice. I remember reading where Coach Lutz used to say its only Ashland, lol. I wish the Tigers luck this season they seem to be on the upswing and im afraid they are running into a beast this week in Ashland. Good luck to I-Town,

I just have never heard it myself. and I think you could ask any team ironton ever beat or lost to and they would tell you the same basic thing. they won or lost with dignity. and running into beasts has always been something they do best. just have to throw all the marbles in a circle and see who's gets knocked out. --------------------------------------------------curious question here. many are saying Ashland has the best team in the tri-state. I was curious if anybody out there has seen them and burg play. and wonder who would win between them.

I LOVE SEEING THE RACELAND SCORES ON FRIDAY NIGHT.

They will be the next Fairview. Way too many kids on that team that lay their heads down in a different state every night

Other than the Topping kid from ironton name some of them. They are either paying tuition or the school is getting 0 state funds for them. And incidentally Fairview didn’t get caught for all the out of state players. They got turned in by Ashland for playing a player that had graduated from Ashland the prior year. I have a hard time going against the tigers in this one. To me it always seems that ky football is subpar compared to Ohio football. I know Ashland is ranked #1 and all..... look at raceland last year. They lost to West who didn’t make it out of the region and raceland played for a state championship.

Ashland will hammer the Tigers. Tigers will get better but they are not on Ashland’s level this year.

And Ironton only faced Randy Moss one time at DuPont. The other game was a couple of years earlier, and featured his brother Eric Moss, who matriculated to Ohio State.

Actually the Tigers are probably the most storied program in the tri-state. I am from Raceland. Tigers and Rams need to get each other back on the schedule. Raceland isn’t as good as the Tigers we’re back in the day but we have the same problem getting games locally like they used to. We have to drive 4 hrs for a regular season game because most teams locally won’t play. Rams have tried to get the Burg to play for three years now with no luck. They might smash us but we want to play good competition. As far as the Ashland game the Tomcats have a lot of team speed. They are weak on the D-line though. If tigers can establish a run game and keep the ball away from the tomcats they might have a chance. I will be at the game because Raceland plays on Saturday. I’ll be rooting for the Tigers. Can’t stand the putty tats.

Lmao why would burg waste their time beating up on raceland?? Btw burgs schedule is filled a minimum of 2 years out. Of course burg would choose to play Hartley! But seriously, Do you think raceland can play with burg? Look at last year. I know it would be good for raceland to schedule up. However, that’s what burg is doing as well and raceland just doesn’t fit that.

OH my, opening it up for Burg posters now, lol. No luck because of bad timing in weeks or no luck because Burg wouldn't play??

I believe we had the same open date next year. they picked up Greenup for next year. A team that we soundly beat this past Friday. their excuse was that they would get more points for losing to a bad Greenup team than they would if they beat us. personally I think that talent level at the burg is about to take a nose dive and they are looking for a softer schedule for next year.

We don’t do soft districts like you guys do across the river. But to clarify. Burg gets 0 points for losing. 0. They may be looking for a cupcake to separate week 2&4. That’s more than likely the situation.

It cracks me up at how many posters over here say Ky football is subpar. granted their are some schools that are having some issues but check out some of the programs such as Johnson Central, Belfry, Boone Co., Louisville Male, Lexington Lafayette, Paducah Tihlman to name a few. Kentucky does not end when you reach I-64,there are a lot of quality programs in all three states that border the Ohio river.

The last time Ashland was ranked number 1 the Tigers went across the river and kicked butt. The night before the game I won’t mentioned any names. We went across the river and burnt an I in both ends of the field.

OK moron I was going to let it go but you chimed back in so here goes..... Did you even read your post?

First when you lose to any team BIG, small, good or bad you get exactly ZERO points = stupid statement #1

Second to even imply that we would/will lose to Greenup and beat Raceland in the same year means that you think Greenup>Raceland which is obviously NOT the case = stupid statement #2

Third if you really think Burg is on a downturn in talent you either are truly a moron or live under a rock. Grades 6-12 are LOADED with talent (current 8th and 9th especially). that is the reason we are beefing up our schedule with perennial Ohio powerhouses = stupid statement #3

The reason to schedule Greenup not Raceland is simple we will get more points beating Greenup vs beating Raceland most years and here is the math:
Raceland is Ohio D6 - 4 pts. L1 24pts. L2 = 2.8pts for Burg (2017 season)
Greenup is Ohio D2 - 6 pts L1 36pts L2 = 4.2pts for Burg (2017 season)
