I was talking to someone the other day and was told that SOC only gives 2 points for win and one for tie. Said it's been that way for years. Never thought it would matter much, but this year is highly competitive in conference play.

Good Question. I posted this last year and never got any comments on the points system. Anyone know more about this? I will change it if we can get confirmation, but it would be the same standings as far as 1-5 but the points would be closer.

From yahoo answers: Best Answer: You only get points in soccer by drawing a game - worth one league point, or winning a game, worth 3 league points.

The SOC doesnt always follow those guidelines, lol. Just going on what I was told by someone more involved than I am. Surprised me that was the way it was done.

This changed to 3 points for a win about 5 years ago. Not sure exactly what year, but it is 3 for a win and 1 for a tie now.

How will wet fields affect games this week?

I would say if games are played today, field conditions will factor in, but I don't think it will impact one team more then another. Everyone is so close in competition this year. I know the key game tonight is Burg @ Minford. Being played on grass maybe you give Minford the advantage. Just hope for injury free games tonight if played!

Injury free is the key to the day.

Burg practices on a grass field often. I would hope they've been on it since Thursday knowing todays grass game was next. They'll be fine. GO BURG!

This is a huge game tonight! Id hate to be the person deciding on field conditions/etc do to the implications. Burg is still down a few players due to a OHSAA violation. A rain out tonight would benefit Burg because I believe they would be back to full strength when the make-up would take place. Minford is somewhat in a slump without their main goal scorer who has been hurt. This is the rivalry game in the SOC 2 I know both teams will bring it tonight no matter what players are on the field. Should be fun to watch.

Whats the over/under on Minford parents being tossed? 2+/- ??

Hopefully we have a great match and injury free for both squads.

Should Northwest be 4-2-0? The points match up to that. I believe they've lost to Burg and Minford.

Yes, Northwest 4-2-0. But will take 4-1-1 if allowed, lol. Still a 4 team race, amazing year.
