Im putting them there thinking that Terrelle Pryor will develop. If he doesnt, then youre right, they should be about there. I see them taking advantage of another weak schedule. They have three games they could lose in USC, Penn State, and Iowa. I dont think Michigan will be good enough to beat them, even if it is in Ann Arbor.

at LSU, Florida State, at South Carolina, SEC title game...Florida could lose at Miss State just because of the Dan Mullen effect.
South Carolina wont be that good (6-7 wins), but playing in South Carolina isnt easy. They play tough at home. Also, Arkansas and Tennessee should improve, but Im not sure how much.

If that's the kind of "can" we are going to use, then USC, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Penn State, and Michigan could all beat OSU.
Illinois has a lot back and beat Iowa late in the season. OSU always has trouble with them, even in the 90's. Even this season OSU had more trouble with their offense than PSU or Texas.
Wisconsin was even with FSU for 3 quarters and fumbled the football several times, which they followed by giving up. They will now have experience at QB with Clay being a good RB. They will be as good as Miss State at least. The coach will also be feeling the heat.
Minnesota was bad down the stretch, but they showed flashes early and return 19 or so starters. They will be about like a 2008 Missouri or Kansas IMO.
If we are going by the Penn State, Iowa, and USC analysis....
Then it's LSU, Georgia, and FSU, with the possibility of a Championship game.
However, Georgia was a touch better than MSU this season and they lost their offensive stars. MSU was smacked early and often by PSU and OSU.
FSU has shown nothing but a flash here and there since 2000 or 1999 or whenever that was.... They are "meh" and are the equivalent of a team between Wisconsin and Iowa. They were better than UW but worse than Iowa.
Michigan is Michigan. It is Michigan and OSU. Michigan has lost 5 straight and 7 out of 8 to OSU. The heat will be on RR if he drops two in a row. They will be hungry. That game is losable 99% of the time.

Oh come on. You and I both know that Ohio State couldnt get beat by any of those teams. I put Penn State because of the location of the game. Penn State has a lot of personnel losses coming. Iowa should be improved.
As good as Mississippi State? Maybe for one year. I see Mullen bringing Mississippi State to the big time. They could beat Florida next season due to location and his knowledge of Urban Meyer's system.
If we look at Ohio State's sched, then I think Florida could lose two, maybe three.
Re: 2009 WAY EARLY College Football Rankings
IF OSU can't lose to those teams, then they aren't losing in 2009 to Miss State or South Carolina either.
Also, plenty of great coordinators are horrible head coaches. We know nothing about Mullens now. However, Miss State won't be better than Illinois, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. One or two of those will be better.

I dont see Ohio State being in the top 15 preseason polls next year.

I had Florida State barely on the outside looking in. They have slowly improved the last few years and they were a fairly young team coming into this season. I think they can make some noise next year.
Cincy better hope Marty Gilyard returns. If he does, I see them having another great year.

There are no D1 heavyweights that schedule a "tough" non conference schedule anymore. USC is a big opponent, but with the "lose and you are out" BCS bullcrap, you will not see schools increase their strength of non conf scheduling off the charts until there is a playoff system in place.

Re: 2009 WAY EARLY College Football Rankings
fightingtigers45,
NO WAY Meyer's players lose to Mullen's players.
The only teams with a chance vs. the Gators next year are LSU, UGA, SEC West Champ, and SoCal in the BCSCG.
I cant wait to see Lane Kiffin's face when he hears how loud it is in The Swamp
