Desales is the second best team and might sneak in over Athens at 8. It will be close. Desales beat Lancaster who is playing very well now. Also those teams need Hartley to lose to Hoover. Granville is a much easier opponent who could be the #1 seed

Week 9 big game is Walnut Ridge vs Marion Franklin. MF is the underdog but it’s a huge points game

DeSales has Winton Woods next week who beat Elder tonight. Even if they lose that If they beat Watterson they should be in @ 6-4 but who knows. They're definitely one of the top 3 in the region but may not get a chance to prove it with that brutal schedule week in week out. That's a shame.

DeSales would beat Athens by 35 and shut'em out and Jackson would beat'em by 21. It's Ok, let Athens win out and I'll make the 15 minute drive to Eastmoor to watch the massacre. 8-)

With #7 DeSales losing, as well as #8 Jackson, Athens definitely has a chance.
Bulldogs currently #8, but there may be Saturday games left that change the L2 points.

DeSales at (7-1) Winton Woods next Friday is huge!
Chillicothe vs Jackson week 10 is pretty big.

Just to give an example how tough this region is ... South is (6-2) and 17th in the region. lol

If Athens had a few less boys, they'd be 3rd in DIV, Region 15 and set to host a game week 11.

Just Checked OHSAA #'s and Athens number is 334. The largest Division 4 team is 276. Athens would have to have a lot less than a few more boys to be Division 4. 58 to be exact. Adding Waverly next year to the schedule will help if they can beat them.

South has played no one other than Eastmoor and Walnut Ridge who beat them by combined scores of 94-14. They shouldn't be in the top 25 in that region unless they want to count their big win against D7 6-2 Berne Union 28-6. The only team in that region they would beat is probably Warren. :o

I saw that on another post. 334 is crazy, Athens must have had a huge class come into the high school last year. I can't remember the last time we were above 300. I think we were 290 last count.

I know South isn't very good. I was just making a point that a team with a (6-2) record can't even crack the top 15 in this region. Even with a weak schedule 6-2 probably has you hovering around the top 10 in most regions.

Ironmen in addition to winning out will be big fans of Wellston, Winton Woods, Gallia and even Fairfield Union.

Although sneaking in at 8 probably rewards you with a 1 vs 8 match up with Hartley.

DeSales arguably the second best team in the Region could be sitting at home come Week 11.

I think DeSales season ended when the all-state, two-way starting lineman transfer from Olentangy was carried off the field last night. Pretty sure he's done. They have no chance against Winton Woods. They'd already lost their quarterback, and the all-state two-way two-sport all everything transfer from Olentangy emergency backup quarterback couldn't carry the team by himself. Not seeing that blind side sack coming and underestimating Hartley line speed, he started hearing the footsteps. Once he lost the anchor of his protection he became a run-only threat. When he bobbled that snap deep in their own territory he made the mistake of wanting to pick it up and being the hero, but it was him against the four Hartley guys who had busted through the line. The RB next to him just kind of stood there and did nothing. Stallions coach seriously lost it and wanted to punch the kid for spectating. Winton Woods has too many weapons, and last night deflated the Stallions. I wouldn't be surprised to see another running clock next week. Hartley is a decent team, but nowhere even close to the level of the Warriors. It's going to be a thumping. DeSales is done.

Hopefully Hartley loses to Hoover. Hoover is probably the favorite. Would drop Hartley to the #3.

I have Athens at 18.64
That's with Logan losing out and Parkersburg south losing to D2 Wheeling Park. If Logan beats Waverly and South wins out it's 19.75
