Waverly 34 Logan 20

Post by smurray »

It’s crazy, week 10 is here and still so much to play for.
Logan is a very dangerous 1-8 team, taking Chillicothe to OT tied at 0, losing a close game to Athens and Zanesville.
They make the long trip to 8-1 Waverly with the hopes of knocking off the Playoff bound Tigers and somewhat salvage their season.
The Tigers have rebounded from the loss to Wheelersburg with two very impressive wins over West & Minford and currently sit at the #4 spot in Region 16. With a win over Logan and just a little help the Tigers hope to be hosting a first round playoff game. Tigers could maybe conceivably get to the #3 spot if everything works out the way it could or they could also drop to 7-8 with a loss to Logan. TIGERS PLAYING FOR ALOT THIS COMING FRIDAY.

There is so much to play for it is kinda crazy. It is senior night and the Tigers can't worry about where and who they will play in Week 11 because they have Logan Friday night. smurray chronicled their close games and they will be looking to play spoiler. All the scenarios will play out in the next week, starting Sat (10/20) with West traveling to Hebron Lakewood to face of with Wheeling Central Catholic.

Tigers will win, by how much depends on if they are focused, or if they are already looking ahead to the Playoffs.

Hard to believe that week ten of the high school football season is upon us. Waverly has far exceeded my expectations of at best a five win season based on graduation losses from 2017. Logan's record is deceiving based on strength of schedule. Waverly is going to have to play to the best of their ability to defeat the Chieftans . The Tigers prevail 34-28.

Chiefs "D" keeps this one a winnable game - the D has been outstanding the 2nd half of the season ... Offensively - Spatar was back behind center vs Watterson but the junior signal caller wasn't 100% ... was still tough to grip the ball and throw it down field ... look for BOTH the Defense AND the O to show up for a full game, minus those pesky drive stalling penalties ... don't be surprised if the Purple hands Waverly their 2nd loss of the season ...

Man this is a tough one to pick. Logan has played a much tougher then Waverly plus they're D2 and have seen athletes just as good if not better then Waverly. I worry a bit about the LOS for Waverly, Waverly with a bunch on the line going to take them in a close one 21-20. Hope ppl look at that Logan schedule and not record.

Waverly wants to keep that 4 seed and a home game. Waverly wins in a close one. Logan plays tough

Waverly with a lot more to lose in this one. With a Tiger win they could conceivably move up to the three spot which could be a big difference playing the 6 rather than the 5. With a Tiger loss they could drop to the 8 and traveling to a Wyoming or Clinton Massie.
Waverly CANNOT take Logan lightly. The Chieftans will be a challenge for the Tigers indeed. Waverly must focus and prepare for them like they have the past two weeks with West and Minford - and pull out all the stops..

With Logan's schedule and size difference, I want to say Logan. Logan has the athletes to win this game regardless of record. And should win with the athleticism alone, regardless of the coaching. The defense kept Logan in most games, but the offense............. Its quite literally mind numbing to watch the offense. To quote a MVL poster on another board, "Logan is a dumpster fire of cluelessness".

The Chiefs might score 2 TD and our defense will play fair and will hold Waverly to less than 30 in the final game of this era! Start the search as soon as possible!

Changes? What changes? What makes anyone think the powers that be believe blowing up the program is warranted. I sit in the stands. I don't know what the admin thinks. They might look at Logan competing better in games and stay the course. That's a lot easier than confrontation.

If you are a Tiger fan, I think this game makes you nervous. It is scary facing a team who has a bad record but have faced so many really good opponents and they should not be taken lightly one bit. What are Logan's strengths/weaknesses? What kind of offense do they run? Is there D better against the pass or run?

If ever there was a team better than their record indicated...it's Logan. Seven of the eight teams that beat Logan have a winning record. Those seven teams have a combined record of 52-11. Three of those teams are 8-1 and one is 9-0. Logan has some close losses to some excellent teams! Their only loss to a team that does not have a winning record was to 4-5 Bishop Watterson.

Waverly hasn't played a school as large as Logan in years. This game will certainly be a challenge. Waverly has looked good the last couple of games. Our defense is playing their best ball of the season. The Tigers have a lot on the line this Friday. A decent chance at a home playoff game if they win. For all intents and purposes.....This Friday against Logan is a playoff game. Go Tigers!!

Logan has played - IMO - a top 3 most difficult schedule in school history.

But I will also say that I think against an "average" schedule - this team would probably be a 3-5 win team. The team that we've seen the second half of the season would have gone 5-5 while the team from the first half would have gone 3-7.

Waverly should take Logan seriously - but the Tigers are a great team - and will have too much for Logan.
