I really kind of feel for Athens. A lot of fans here in SEO didn't even want you to make the Playoffs. Now that you are in the Playoffs, they are telling you how much you are going to embarrass yourselves when playing Hartley. It probably wouldn't make everyone happy, but mayby you should just mail it in, and tell Hartley that you decided to not even play the game. But Heck, then they would start calling you a coward for not playing. You just cannot win in this day and age.

I’ll give Athens props if they keep this close.

They might lose in a blowout and they might just keep it pretty tight. I can’t see them winning but that opinion doesn’t count for anything in the game.

I'd love nothing more than to see Athens go to Columbus and shock the state! Unfortunately they are in over their heads here. I'm just stating what I think about the matchup. Best of luck to the Dogs. Go up and rattle the Catholics!

Good luck Athens , this is the part where the fans from the teams who are turning in equipment this week tell you that you will lose . It will be a tall task but what a great opportunity. See you week 2 in 2019

If you watch Hartley games on Spectrum you see that they have their offensive linemen shoulder to shoulder (no splits). They like to run wide leading with 4 or 5 bodies. On film you see most teams back up as they run at them and they get 5 to 10 yards every run. When Tri-Valley beat them last year, they sent their outside linebackers and corners up to take on the blockers, piled things up and tackled Hartley a lot for no gain or a loss. Hartley is not a team that is going to adjust. Most teams can't stop them and they bull doze them over. If you can stop them, you win. Easier said than done. All the state titles prove that. Not an Athens expert,, but thinking they may not have the personnel to pull it off.

Athens just hasn't played a schedule that would've prepared them for a team like Hartley. 41-6 Hartley

Well most teams play more than 2 teams with a winning record all season, and they only won 1 of those, LOL. Played as many 1 win teams as they did teams with a winning record, :D

Well I'm sorry if scheduling a losing season every year just to say hey I played better teams and lost Is what you guys want then knock yourselves out but dont blame teams who like to win and play in the playoffs. Àsk any kid what he wants and see if he wants yo loose every year and never getting a chance to play in week 11

Bulldog,,just go play,,improve your schedule and chances of making the playoffs every year. BTW,,take a look at Burgs schedule.
Hope your boys play with that same chip on their shoulder that you have....Good Luck.

Athens played in one playoff game in it's entire history prior to joining the TVC. (1990)

They are now heading to the state playoffs for the 5th time in 8 years, have hosted 4 times, been the No. 1 seed and played in a state championship game.

Athens is doing better than fine. Light years ahead of where the program once was.
