But, the BEST teams in the STATE in each division would be in, regardless of record and there would be a lot closer games , especially in round one. There would be more travel though when certain parts of the state dominant certain classes.Omega wrote: ↑Sat Oct 27, 2018 10:59 am There are annual tales of teams with sterling records getting left out of the playoffs and the opposite. Any playoff system using a harbin like system rewards both strength of schedule and wins over fan's eyeball evaluation.
One of the ways to reduce surprises in playoff qualifiers would be to qualify the top 32 teams in points in each class state wide, regardless of geographic region.
Another would be district schedules to determine playoff qualifiers, as in Kentucky.
The first would leave many SE Ohio teams on the outside of the playoffs. The second would likely see teams with losing records make the field.
No system is perfect so the status quo looks good.

Re: Playoff news and notes. Speak Nerdy to Me!
If we took the Top 32 teams by Computer Average we would then have the top 32 teams by points and not necessarily the Best 32 teams.
Wheelersburg’s win over an 8-2 D5 Oak Hill team would be weighted exactly the same as it is now. There would not be geographical factors. Somehow, I think you believe that by removing geography and regions it would greatly affect the process. I’m not so sure. And now my OCD is screaming at me. So, I think I will compare D1 and possibly D5 at the Region System vs Overall top 32 and then we can see.
Give me a few minutes.
Scheduling tough is not rewarded. Losses have 0 worth. Waverly and Oak Hill were the most valuable teams on Wheelersburg’s schedule I believe.

Springfield Shawnee finished 7th in D4 Region 15
Had to win week 10 vs Johnathan Alder to make playoffs.
Tied 14 - 14 with 4 seconds to go they set up for a game winning 25 yard FG.
Coaches kid is the kicker. Coach Rick Meeks calls for the kicker.
Junior.
She made it.

Wonder how the coaches wife was doing?

I'm pretty sure this will be the 4th different division Portsmouth has completed in. They were d4 their last few trips, d3 in 00, d2 in the late 80's. I'm pretty sure they were still d1 at some point as they were a AAA school under the 3 division format. Oh how the mighty have fallen.

I just checked in 88 they were d2 region 8, in 1991 they were d2 region 7. If I remember correctly in 1999 they were in D4 and lost to Valley View.LucasDavenport wrote: ↑Fri Nov 02, 2018 2:43 pm Portsmouth playoff appearances
