Someone I talked to thought Northmor/ Fort Frye would be there.

Although the QB and RB are seniors Shadyside is a very young team. Three freshmen start on D and two more frosh play and contribute to a very high degree, especially on kick return and kick off. Fullback in a soph and a starting receiver is a soph. All Shadyside receivers are underclassmen.

Looking at PV schedule, looked pretty good for DVI school. Was these teams legit?? Obviously to go 10-0, you need to have a great year. Shadyside has a lot of speed, but their best asset is fundamentals. Coaching staff is top notch. Putting the right athletes in the proper spots. We are on a long run of ....success breeds success... kids wanna be part of the tradition. Good luck to PV, bring your best and hopefully we can beat your best!!

I think Shadyside is going to win but they are beatable. Paint Valley just needs balance.

Higher seeds always get a little closer to home but good roads all the way for both.

Maybe OHSAA didn't get that memo, #1 seed PV is 2hr 9min. to ZHS on mostly crappy 2 lane roads. #4 seed SHS 1hr.16min. to ZHS on almost all 4 lane freeway. It is what it is.

You're probably talking about taking Rt. 22 ? If you take 23N , 270E to 70E It's all 4 lane although they do have a straight shot for sure.

It is much easier for Shadyside, but still only about 40 minutes shorter. I guess you could take some weird way to add a half hour on 2 lane roads, but even if you go the 2 lane way, it is only like 1:55.

Not really, out of conference teams they played were 6-24. Unioto, Southeastern, and Adena biggest threats for them this year. Unioto's big back went out with 7-8 minutes to go in the game and he had 229 yards and 3 tds at the time, Unioto was unable to move the ball. All 3 teams have similar styles in that none of them offered a passing game that PV had to deal with they were simply running teams. As you can see from the score Grandview Heights was able to pass the ball pretty well, the PV offense though running 79 plays really won that game for them as Grandview Heights only ran 44 plays. Looking at schedules Shadyside has just played a bigger variety of teams and what they can do offensively. Pulling for PV to get this one but the realist in me says Shadyside by 2-3 scores.

I know it's a long drive but I hope paint valley brings a bunch of support for the kids. I plan on making the drive if I can get out of work early enough.

Ok I get it I’ve thought the SVC was overrated all year but Paint Valley can win this game. Shadyside is good but they are far from unbeatable. They got a killer Rb in Banco and nice QB to Wr combo in Coggins and Hendershot. I think Shadyside is going to win but let’s stop acting like they’re Alabama.

Sounds like you're predicting an easy win for Shady. Yeah, the SVC will never be considered a stout football conference but the OVAC will never be confused with the MAC either. This will be closer than you think.

Tigerfan wrote: Sat Nov 03, 2018 12:54 am My guess is Maysville. Does PV have the size or speed to compete with Shadyside??? The Tigers have a great coaching staff that rises to the occasion on games like this. I personally think this will be the deciding factor.
PV has good size and speed. Their QB Newland is a big kid that can sling it. Don't know if they beat Shadyside, but I think they'll give them a run.

SVC will get smacked pretty good in this one Shady with the experience in the big show
I did a quick search on Shady's playoff history and wasn't very impressed, is this team better than the 2010 team that lost by 71 pts. ?

29-19, 2 time state runner up. Not very impressive is right, yeah they lost the 2010 Championship Game 77-6, but it was also the state title game, something that nobody from the SVC has ever played in.

Calm down there buddy, just playing around a little bit. When somebody talks a little smack like Duck what do you expect? Like I said, this game will be closer than Duck thinks, PV will not be intimidated as they have been past the 1st rd. playoffs before as well.
