... trojandave , I have to defer to you on this one buddy - since Logan no longer plays the Trojans I never had to the opportunity or pleasure to see Matthew Fraulini & your Trojans play last season - my loss it sounds like too ... his omission was only due to my not having seen him play ... I WILL see him this season though ! - I'm going to drive to Piketon on 12/1 to see your Trojans play Southeastern in the opening game of the Piketon Tip Off Classic ! - hopefully I'll run into you and the Portsmouth crew !

I think PEOPLE are trying to be a little bit politically correct in their choices ( nothing wrong with that). Some on the top ten could be replaced with some of the bottom 10 and some that are not on the list could be on someones list . Lots of things can happen since last year. Some kids have committed to improving vastly . Some are defensive specialist , some are great passers , some are good shooters and some are good players because they do what ever is needed for their team to be the best they can be . SEO has some really good players . So good luck to all . I'll be watching from the cheap seats also and should be able to see a number of good players be great players . Again good luck to the players and the coaches and safe travel to all!!

You are correct ,and Matthew fraulini is one of them kids that works his tail off to improve his game you can see him running all over town and as he runs he is usually bouncing a basketball , he plays only basketball he works year round ,goes to camps etc what ever it takes his specialty is offense and defense ,his really good on both ends he is very capable of putting his team on his back I have seen it in both his freshman band sophomore years ,he started as a freshman on a pretty good team.

My first post on basketball this year,my very favorite time of year , we have some really good basketball teams in Southeastern Ohio, good luck to all .

I'd rather have 5 guys 11-20 than just 1 in the top 10. lol

That is what Athens is kind of armed with.

Maxfield - possible TVC-Ohio POY candidate. But Floyd, you didn't list Chubb in you top 3 for Athens, which is probably a mistake. Hynes is a good, solid player. Butcher may be the teams leading scorer - and the key to Athens being a district threat rests on the shoulders of Elijah Williams. His progression from last year to this year will be huge. Won't know until we get into the season how much he has improved as a PG.

Wiliams is very much improved. Night and day from where he was last season. You will like what you see 93.

Ethan Heller ... Sheridan
Evan Conley ... Fairfield Union
Zach Fout ... Adena
Elijah McCloskey ... Huntington
Zach Loveday ... Gallia Academy

... my backup group of quality players who can play for me anytime :

Cam Evans ... Zane Trace
Evan Leist ... Eastern Pike
Grant Heileman ... Sheridan
Mason Darby ... Oak Hill
Cody Remmington ... Waverly
Justin Hynes ... Athens
Tayte Carver ... Green
Shiloah Blevins ... South Webster
Caleb Bell ... Logan
Logan Maxfield ... Athens
Isaiah Butcher ... Athens
Hunter Cochenour ... Eastern Pike
Jeremy Wietelmann/Isaac Ward/Jason Sailor ... Logan Elm
Clay Miller/Noah Nichols/Makiah Merritt ... Warren
The scorer/playmaker for Green is Tanner Kimbler and should be on the list ahead of Carver. Carver is an excellent defender and player, however Kimbler is the go to guy, the one as a defender you have to know where he is at all times. He can put up 30 any given night..

Matthew Fraulini from PHS belongs on this list.

I believe the Fraulini kid for Portsmouth should at least be on the second list. Watched him at Wheelersburg and at their tournament game at Waverly. Really good player and shooter. I believe Shilo Blevins should be in the top ten. Ahead of Fout and McCloskey. Remington from Waverly will push for the top ten. He has been in the gym all summer and worked on his offensive game. Probably the best defender in southeast ohio. He ate Heller alive last year in the district semifinals versus Sheridan.

Fraulini and Blevins are both very solid and somewhere in the 8-14 range in SE Ohio.

Good info on Fraulini, Blevins,Kimbler ... I had Carver over Kimbler due to seeing Carver put down 30 points vs Trimble at the Convo last year ... Kimbler added 19 of his own ... as I posted to trojandave - I rate my teams & players based on my "eyes on" them in games throughout the year ... I can't see every team or player during the season ALTHOUGH I try my best to see as many teams as possible during the regular season and then during the 3 Weeks of the Convo in A'town ... I have Green @ Eastern Pike in the first week and a half of the season so ALL of those names Leist,Miller,Cochenour for the Eagles and Carver/Kimbler for Green will get the early season "eye test" from pfloyd ...

Blevins has maybe the craziest “hops” in the district

Fraulini is special, Hope we can put a nice group around him, I believe the Trojans will be ok as long as the youth can develop and we can remain healthy

JJ Truitt from Wheelersburg had an outstanding freshman year and is always in the shadow of Holden, but he has grown a couple inches and at about 6'5" he will be a force this year. Not sure if he is top 10, but very close if not.

If he is 6’5 then he definitely needs mentioned

In a scrimmage tonight at raceland Fraulini put up 31 points and played some great defense Portsmouth won 3 out of 4 qtrs I know it's a scrimmage but both teams played their starters for the most part ,number 21 for raceland also put up over 30 I'm sure as he was nailing threes all night nice player that transfer over from Ironton,Amar'e Johnson for Portsmouth who went to starting varsity straight from junior high had 6 or 8 points and overall run the point pretty good.

Coach Collins said Fraulini is on one of the coaches polls in the top 50 in the State .

This team will be fun to watch

Moses Guthrie: good call on Kimbler from Green. He is capable of dropping 40pts on any given night (and has before).

4th goal: agreed on JJ Truitt...he should have a huge year. This time next year, he'll probably be a top 5 player in SE Ohio. And if he truly is 6'5" now, gotta think the D1 interest will pick up with his shooting and handle.*

I watched the Portsmouth scrimmage with biggdowgg, and Fraulini looks ready to have a great season. His perimeter jumper is as good as anyone in the SE district, and his ball handling skills are very good also. He crashed the boards as well several times, and his vertical is very respectable. One thing I have great respect for Matthew is his conditioning. At about 6-2 and 150-160 lbs, he is in great shape.Hopefully the Trojans can find enough scoring around him so that opposing coaches won't specifically game plan to minimize his impact.

Truitt is a true scorer but he is not 6'5".

Looks like the OVC has been excluded from the list. This conference is typically a defensive conference but just because they don't average 18+ a game don't mean they don't have several special players.

Here I go trying to remember from last year.

Coal Grove:
Aaron Music could start for any team in SE Ohio and be one of their best. Does everything for CG. If he is a little more offensively selfish could average a double double while guarding the teams best scorer and doing PG role at the end of regulation to secure wins. Borders big 3 point threat.
South Point:
Tashaun Fox if healthy. If healthy can win games by himself. Webb is wiry , quick and great leaper.
Chesapeake:
6'3 sophomore really good. Name escapes me.
Gallipolis:
obvious Loveday with good surrounding cast. Not sure CG can take one of 2 from them this year.
Fairland:
Totally new team but remember the name Monlack (spelling?). He may emerge as a good scorer.
Portsmouth:
Fraulini could be really special if he gained more strength.
Ironton:
Ethan Wilson best PG in the OVC. Can Charlie Large be healthy all year? If so maybe Fox level. Carrico solid.

Aside from Loveday not much height in the OVC this year.

CGFan#1: Good rundown of the top players in the OVC. Music is really a good PG, and teamed with Borders give the Hornets a very good backcourt. Music, being a senior, most likely will be asked to score more this season. The player on Chesapeake you're referring to is Eli Archer, who scored 21 points at Portsmouth last year as a freshman.

Two other players on Gallia Academy that will give good support to Loveday are Cory Call and Seth McClelland.

Thanks for filling in the gaps for me Trojan Dave.
Obviously I am Biased but Aaron Music would be on the top 10 SE district team and first team All OVC if I was picking.
