Re: 2018/19 Wheelersburg Pirates
Burg should have a great year. Unfortunately they will run into another giant in tournament time that I don't think they can beat. District Title team for sure, but they will have a difficult time ever getting out of Regionals as long as the Africentrics/Harvest Preps are still in Div 3. It doesn't matter who transfers in to play for the Burg. But no one can complain about District Titles. It will be a great season for the Pirates. SOC title and District title in the near future this season for them

It seems crazy to be this far into the practice/scrimmage season and still be another week or two from getting the basketball players from the football team...but this isn’t a first time thing either.

Is Mathews playing for Burg this year? Remember playing as a Freshman on the JV squad. To good of an athlete to be sitting in the stands.
Re: 2018/19 Wheelersburg Pirates
My "source" at the Burg says he didn't play last year because he doesn't like the coach and wanted to focus on football. Unless something changed on that front, I can't see him coming out.yabbadabbadoo wrote: Sun Nov 25, 2018 10:07 pm Is Mathews playing for Burg this year? After a long football run it generally takes Burg a few extra weeks to get their basketball legs. Should be a good season as long as people perform like they are expected.

Wheelersburg Scrimmaged Western Pike on Monday night. I believe they took 4/6 quarters against the Indians. Every quarter was close except one where Burg jumped out to a 15-2 lead and ended up closing the quarter 17-6 or something like that. Burg played well for coming off of football and I thought Western handled there pressure D, and Holden well.
Anyone have any other thoughts that was at the scrimmage?

Impressed they got a scrimmage in. I doubt many attended the scrimmage. Sounds like you have a good assessment of it.Western24 wrote: Tue Dec 04, 2018 12:57 am Wheelersburg Scrimmaged Western Pike on Monday night. I believe they took 4/6 quarters against the Indians. Sounds about right. Burg has plenty of talent and is better than Western. Western has had time for Fitch to work on his kids, so that explains why they handled pressure pretty well.
Wheelersburg is still the odds on favorite to win the SOC II as well as the D3 District title.

As far as the SOC-2 is concerned, better be aware of Waverly.bbjunky81 wrote: Tue Dec 04, 2018 9:20 am Sounds about right. Burg has plenty of talent and is better than Western. Western has had time for Fitch to work on his kids, so that explains why they handled pressure pretty well.

I would agree that Waverly has a real shot as well. Burg is the slight favorite with Holden, but Waverly could definitely win. After seeing Oak Hill last week, don't be surprised if Oak Hill beats both teams at least once.VetteMan wrote: Wed Dec 05, 2018 1:10 amAs far as the SOC-2 is concerned, better be aware of Waverly.bbjunky81 wrote: Tue Dec 04, 2018 9:20 am Sounds about right. A few? There was one.smurray wrote: Wed Dec 05, 2018 3:19 pmI believe the Jeeps won the State with a few transfers, correct?
They also won 2 regional titles before that with zero transfers (one was the regional championship that Africentric forfeited so only one other state appearance, but you get the point.)
There was a foreign exchange student on the roster if perhaps you’re referencing him. He didn’t sniff the floor though.
Also, the guy posting that above you is a troll. Most likely a young kid trying to stir the pot.
