Good riddance.....gets out rebounded by a 6'8" skinny kid from Sienna....the dude had 15 rebounds.....like someone on a C-bus talk show said I'd put this kids picture in the lockerroom with the words he had 15 rebounds against us.

Nah NC, big men in Europe handle the ball and shoot well from the perimeter.

On another thread a statement was made that Matta needed to look for 4 year players and in a perfect world that would be great but a guy learning for two years before he is capable of actually playing on the big stage isn't any better than a a one and done. Programs have to take a chance to get the best players. Our one and done teams a couple years ago worked out well! Not that any of that has anything to do with BJ cause he isn't ready for the NBA or maybe even the developmental league. What a shame!! IMO I am glad we didn't loose the best frosh in the Big Ten, Beuford. Or the best sophmore, maybe in the country, ET. Should be a good run next year but BJ could have been a nice role player with some hard work.

There is always a calling for 7 foot window washers though so BJ isn't going to be w/o work alltogether. I read on bucknuts where he said he wasn't ready last year, if that had been an option, but feels he is ready now??????

Kind of reminds of the name of a rent-to-own company, Rent-A-Center. From a fan's prespective, this is getting a little old. I read where the kid has had a tough life, even being homeless at times, so if someone wants to throw a lot of money at him and he can help his family, I guess I'd do the same thing. If, however, his goal is to be a quality pro for an extended career, then he has made a big mistake. I think you need to give these kids an option instead of what we have out there now. Go pro immediately out of high school if you can (Lebron) or go to college for no less than three years. As for recruiting four-year type players up front, well that didn't work too well for Jim O'brien.

Mullens may be very smart to do this if he is as bad as you guys say he is....

Right now he will likely be drafted high because of potential.

If he comes back next season and doesn't show much improvement, that potential idea is out the window and he is screwed financially.

He may have improved his stock, but he also may have ruined it for good. Now, bust or not, he will be a multi-millionaire bust, and if he handles his money well, it should set him up for life. Unfortunately, many athletes do not handle their money well.

Would you rather him stay and play half inspired ball every third game
and mediocre ball the other games?

He doesn't play hard, he doesn't try hard, and he doesn't think he has to
at this level.

He will be a first rounder on potential and physical stats, then he will have
a career where he can say he plays less than Costa Kuffus.

What a complete waste. Any NBA team willing to throw top dollar at this underachiever deserves what they get. He's still a three year project on the college level, much less in the NBA. He's a "presidential" draft choice, two terms in office, and after eight years, he might be a decent NBA player.

wow. osu fans were in love with this guy at the beginning of the season, what happened? i dont watch osu or big ten bball so i legitimately dont know. i thought this was supposed to be a match made in heaven with him going to canal and all.

Wow.

I thought he played soft, but I never saw him do anything at OSU that was horrible (outside of some of his play).

I have no venom toward this guy at all. People are bashing his abilities and saying they are glad he is gone, while others call him an "idiot" at the same time.

If he is so terrible, then with the current draft projections, he is a genius to go pro now. As I said before, he will be drafted high based on potential, and if he stayed around OSU and didn't get any better, that "potential" would be gone. His value would drop like a rock. It would be very risky for him to stay.

He may be a baby, but then again, I have never watched my mom hold up signs that say "will work for food." I have never moved 10+ times, while watching my brother go to prison.

Matta had nothing but good things to say about Mullens. The same cannot be said of Kosta Koufas. Sorry, but I'm not getting into the Michigan fan "He is awesome. He is tearing up the conditioning. He is buying in. He will be a force. Wait he sucks. He is a pansy. He is a baby. He stinks anyway." Justin Boren-like bashing on this one.

There are plenty of kids in college playing basketball with NBA potential that have
a similar or even worse background than Mullins had.

Difference is, they see the college game as their ticket to a new life, and they
work hard and play hard to make it come true.

BJ doesn't have the work ethic to make it as a pro, that stuff doesn't just come
to you when you get to the league.

There was a lot of anticipation, and hype when he came to OSU. That was quickly
lost when he couldn't get a starting job over Dallas Lauderdale.

He'll be alright in the Show. He wasn't going to get any better by going back to OSU setting screens for 25 minutes a game. OSU is so guard oriented that Mullins or Lauderdale are never going to be relevent. He'll be so much better after one year of NBA learning than if he spent 3 more years at OSU.

I'm trying to think of another 7 footer in NBA history that he reminds me of and I cant! Too soft, no mental toughness whatsoever, gets pushed around by college kids, and disappears sometimes for entire games. I sincerely hope my Atlanta Hawks pass on him if he is still available. But then Horford would have him for lunch everyday in practice.

I can think of one...but I dont even think he is in the NBA now...Koufus...who also left early

The only similarities in Koufus and Mullins is the tape measure.

Their games are completely different.

One other similarity I guess, they both gave about 45% of their potential to the college game.

Koufus is evidence that you don't get a switch to hit when you get to the NBA that
all of a sudden gets you to work hard.
