All I am saying is that Mullens would either have to dominate next season or his stock would drop. If he truly is not "all that good" then he is a genius to make the money now while someone will still give it to him.

he will do fine in the nba ...he wont be a dominate center like some but i could see him averaging 10 pts and 8 or 9 boards and after that game against siena i would leave too

I do agree that he is not ready,but do agree with an earlier post that his stock may drop if he stays..Right now it looks like he is a top 15 pick(based on potential) So I do not blame the kid,and wish him the best.

I was hoping they would be getting some help in 2010 from sullinger but I watched him yesterday and I was not impressed. He seemed very stiff and not all that athletic. I saw nothing special about him. I have seen him listed from 6'7" to 6'9", I am guessing he is closer to 6'7". He was named Mr basketball and is listed as one of the better players in the country in the class of 2010 but after watching the state championship game yesterday I don't think he is the best player on his team. One positive is I think he will be a 4 yr guy at OSU.

Lebron James moved numerous times in Akron growing up due to his mother having no home and no job. James doesn't even know his father. He grew up poor also. I know he went pro out of HS, but he was ready. This being the reason BJ left for the pros is a poor excuse for him to leave. The kid was not even good enough to start. It's pathetic to think OSU can't hold onto a 7 footer for the past three years while other schools around the country seem to. Oden, although hurt could have used another year but was ready, KK was not ready either but would have been after this year. Both started at least and did shine. BJ, didn't start, didn't impress, and could have used two years. This kid is 7 foot tall and thats it! He will be a journeyman in the NBA. What a joke and a slap in the face to college basketball. I thought this kid was going to be around for two years based on his play this year.

OSU hasn't "held on to" their 7 footers for the last three years,
because they were guys who would have entered the draft
straight out of HS, if not for the age restriction.

All three guys would have been top 5 picks right out of HS, but
they were mandated to wait a year by the NBA.

Matta invited them to spend that year at OSU, he knew going in
that all three would likely go pro.

Looks like the prophet was right after all. According to the Cols Dispatch this week, OSU is going to be sanctioned for their low graduation rate brought on by all the one-and-done freshmen of recent years, and they acknowledge that the basketball program will lose at least one scholarship and perhaps two.

A few more years of this nonsense and Matta may be reduced to checking out the intramural leagues for walk-ons to fill out his roster.

That NCAA initiative is one of their more bogus rules.

but if you get them on your team then NCAA is going to
slap you with a loss of scholarship.

Like I said this rule is bogus.

If a law student shined head and shoulders above 90% of all other law students in the country,
and a firm offered him a job that would pay him more than many established lawyers
currently make and possibly more than he would make if he stayed in law school,
to leave college and come work for them, he would be lauded as a brilliant mind and
an asset to the university. The school would use his status to bring positive light to
their program and bring in more brilliant minds.
This law student could even finish his course work while at the firm, and eventually get his
law degree.

Yet, we are going to take a scholarship away from a university that brings in talent,
polishes that talent, and sends him on to the next level of his career faster than other colleges do.

but you're forgetting that the talent is not polished. one year in college does not make a polished player. a scholarship is a contract. honor it. you wanna a free education, stay 4(or 3 if you can graduate early) years. if ya dont, we dont want ya.

Funny how Duke, NC, Kansas, KY and programs like that always have their players around 3 or 4 years. OSU gets one guy ave 10 points a game and he thinks he's NBA ready. Even benching from injuries and non starting doesn't stop them.

According to ESPN he is in the top 10 of 1st rounders in the NBA draft. Personally, I just don't see it since he really didn't show it to me during the season. I do wish him the best of luck though because he's going to need it going up against Shaq, Dwight Howard, and the likes.

I don't think the buckeyes have any commitments for 09. Sounds like there is a good chance they may lose 1-2 scholarships because of the players leaving early and it affecting their graduation rates.
