The first foul knocked him to the ground. Then he was kicked and Adena was assessed a technical for that. Unfortunately he reacted. Both of his hands came up from his waist and one of them was closed and he got the Adena player in the back of the head. It happened very quickly.

The call from the referee was a common foul and a technical foul assessed to Adena and then 1 technical but a flagrant one against CH which is an ejection.

40.9 seconds left in the game. Those were the 3rd and 4th fouls assessed on Adena in the half. They had to foul 3 more times to put us in the bonus.

So he tried to punch him in the back of the head and connected. That’s all that was needed to be said.

I just saw video of the incident. He definitely connected, and then Burns grabbed him. And everyone is lucky Burns grabbed him because he wasn't going to stop.

Why if he was kicked in the head, and a technical was called, why was a flagrant foul not also called on the Adena player ?

A technical was assessed on the Adena player. He did not intentionally kick him in the head. He demonstratively pulled his foot out from under the player who had rolled up onto his leg, hence the technical. The officials handled it correctly, imo.

Honestly, the whole situation was unfortunate. It was actually a really well played game. Both teams made some runs. And it was nip and tuck most of the fourth quarter. It's too bad it ended the way it did.

I'm not from either school so I don't really know what happened. If the WCH player was fouled and the player ( demonstratively ) pulled his foot out from under the player who had rolled upon his leg, do you think the officials were wrong in giving the Adena kid a technical ? I have to wonder why the kid from WCH would want to throw a punch. I would be surprised that he would want to injure the kid by rolling on his leg. Oh well, I bet you wouldn't happen to be from Adena.
