Waverly (8-4) at WCH (8-3) Tuesday 1/15

Post by smurray »

Big game between D2 Southeastern Sectional opponents. Since the loss at Chillicothe Waverly has responded with two big road wins at Oak Hill at South Webster. The game against Alexander at the Beast of the Southeast (Chesapeake) was cancelled. The extra two days rest after two very hard fought wins on the road may be just the thing the Tigers needed to get them ready and focused for the second half of the season.

What’s everyone thinking about this one?

This is a tough one. Wouldn’t bet a penny either way.

Waverly has found a second perimeter threat.

Court House is without Steward

Game at Washington

3 big factors....a generic “whoever plays best will win”

... is Steward injured ? THAT is a big "hole" to fill not having Steward in the lineup ...

Ejected with :40 to go vs Adena last Tuesday on a flagrant technical.

Is Roberson Waverly's coach a graduate of Washington CH ? Someone told me that he had been an outstanding player at WCH.

Yes, Travis Robertson went to WCH and was a standout player.

Thanks smurry! I knew I had heard that. His son is a very good player for Waverly right now. I know he's not very big, but by the time he graduates, he's going to score a boat-load of pts for Waverly.

... at least 8 deep/some nights going 9 & 10 deep ... with ALL 8 scoring and contributing on the napkin stat sheet ... the only player who did not come out was Trey Robertson ... the Tigers attack the ball defensively for 32 minutes... IF an opponent has any weaknesses in handling the ball, weaknesses making decisions with the ball on offense the Tigers will expose it and make you pay at the rim going the other way ... if you are keeping stats your head better be on a swivel LOL ...

I will bring an extra pen tomorrow night for the scorebook!

Looking forward to seeing my good friend Todd Shoemaker tomorrow night. The visitors sit behind the benches and the table in Washington Court House so stop on down and say hello. I’m sure the Waverly regulars will be in attendance. Pretty easy trip even for a Tuesday night.

We will try and give you a good game!

Definitely 8+ deep....the one game I watched #9 struggled but a tenth player (freshman Futhey)came in and gave a few good minutes.

Very interested in this game...not sure how the matchups will go. I will say that if Robertson and Marquez both go for 15, Waverly wins. If only 1 is scoring then I think Washington holds serve at home.

Is Steward WCH's Point Guard ? I know he must be a very important player for WCH. With Waverly's full court press, and playing 8 or 9 players pressing all over the floor, WCH better have some guards that can somewhat handle the press.

Steward is WCH shooting guard. Average around 21 points a game.

Hopefully we can withstand Waverly’s frantic pressure.

Thank You! Have not seen him play, but a couple people have said he's a very good player. I'm still trying to grasp why he was the only player suspended from the WCH- Adena game.

Definitely an intriguing matchup but any time a team loses a 20+ ppg scorer they have to have several players step up. WCH is definitely athletic and quick enough to handle Waverly's pressure. Waverly's problem on the season has been consistent half court scoring, but the last 2 games they've seemed to improve in that regard.

Don't have a score prediction, but I think it will be within 5 either way.

Because he punched a player in the back of the head. There was a technical called on Adena and that wasn't enough. There was literally nothing else on the play. The video is quite humorous as the Adena kids all just stood around and the WCH kids all had to restrain Steward. Nobody else should have been ejected.

Does anyone have the video?

Steward also leads SEO in steals according to the website, getting it done at both ends. Curious if Waverly has anyone to matchup with 6'5 240lb Richie Burns.

They have Smallwood who is around 6'6" and Dunn who is probably 6'3" or 6"4". Neither are as physically big as Burns but they atleast have some size to throw at him.
