If you take away the two non covered three pointers at the end cause Athens couldn’t extend, press or fouls them for the clock, Athens shut down a power house offense in their own house to only 32 points. Pretty amazing feat and testament to that Athens Defense. I think Athens should potentially climb a spot or two in the Logan sectional if the can win the final two TVC games and steal a game from Lancaster and Jackson. Thoughts?

Voting ends next Friday night. Lancaster and Jackson games wont be included. unfortunate too. The Dogs REALLY needed those games/wins.

If you look at Athens 4 losses the worst is Warren @ the Warrior Dome a game they were down 36-33 after 3 and ended up losing by 16, hard to win there and against HOF Coach Mattox-well technically for Athens hard to win against Warren anywhere. The Gallia Academy game was a 10 point loss in the 1st game of the year and they had Loveday then who scored 17 that game. 2nd game of the year a 6 point loss to Waverly and their 4th loss was a one point heartbreaker at Valhalla against a Hall of Fame Coach in Combs and Athens was without Williams that game. Athens has a good case to be the 3 seed at least with an overall 13-4 record going into the seeding.

Great game in the Alley. Hats off to coach Cozart. Great job designing that zone which was dominating.Super energy by Bulldogs everyone stepped up. Hynes led the charges but Raider might be right when he said Williams was the best in the area.This might be the best Athens team in the past decade.

Alexander only comes away with the freshman winning. With the JV for Athens looking good it appears that Athens will be in good shape for a few years to come. Alex just struggled with the zone but have plenty of time to work that out before the tournament starts. They have played a lot of tough teams that are larger than them, Warren, Athens twice and Chilly coming up Tuesday. This will help them on the tournament run. Also Oak Hill with is always tough they only lost be two on a last second shot. Keep up the great effort Spartans and good luck to both teams the rest of the season.
