The defense played their butts off..why can't the offense step it up? hope they work on it and we don't have any more losses the rest of the season

Play calling was horrendous. A 1st and goal from the 2 yard line and they try to pass on 1st down??? You have a 6'6" QB who can run the ball and a fullback that can pound it in, why in Gods name do you try to pass???? Field Goals after you have 1st and goal will not win you very many games. You have to punch those in.
I am a huge OSU fan and my son will be going to school there starting next week, but I am about done watching a team implode like they do week after week.

Re: OSU vs. USC Take 2
i think after the defense pursued ,fought, battled, and out played usc only to be left out to dry by the offense they were simply out of gas.. one of the most inspired games i have ever seen the d play in the last couple of years

pete carrol only used 1/3 of his playbook last nigt, protecting his freshman q.b. and u.s.c. still comes out with the win.

Said it from the beginning of teh season. The Big Ten is very average and OSU is an injury away from being average.

How is that? OSU's offense was awful after the first quarter, and they had the 21st century's version of the Miami Hurricanes on the ropes, on the big stage, with defense and special teams only.
Pryor was poor. I was sitting on the 40 yardline, about 25 rows up, and WRs were open all night. If anything, his struggles kept USC in the game. I'm not throwing him under the bus, but he was struggling to make decisions.
Right now, this team is a defensive team. If they play with the enthusiasm all year that they did Saturday night, no one else is putting 20+ on them. USC has the best O-line and RB group in the country, and the O-line was dominated all night.

no one in the awful big ten maybe , but when they play top ten programs or anyone in the SEC it all goes bad.

Other than Florida, who in the SEC would have a better shot than USC at scoring 20+ if OSU's D is playing up to their ability? LSU has not been impressive. Alabama is a less-talented version of USC's running game. Ole Miss can probably be explosive, but they were not impressive offensively against Memphis, yes Memphis.
Plus, last time I checked, USC was a top 2 program in college football and not in the Big Ten. Also, 18 is not 20+, and consider that 7 of those points came off of a 2 yard drive.
BTW, take away the INT set-up TD and OSU's O outscored USC's O 13-11. Yet, PC is a mastermind, and JT is an idiot. Who lost more offensive starters from last season?

"IF OSU is playing up to their to their ability " Now thats a laughable statement right there -- I guess the last 10 bowl games against SEC opponents they simply did'nt play up to their abilities ? or is it 11 in a row ?
If Navy put up 27 I'd say Vandy could go over 30. Because the big ten is that poor.
Play up to their abilities , it was only a 2 yard drive, take away the int, sounds like a bunch of excuses. They spiking that kool aid ?

Did you see the same enthusiasm against Navy that you saw against USC?
And do you not think USC's first TD was on the offense, not the defense? They returned an INT to the 2 yardline and it took them until 4th down to get it in... unless you see the still-frame photo where he was not in but oh well.
BTW it has been 9 straight bowl losses to the SEC, but please explain to me how a 1970s bowl game has anything to do with OSU/LSU 2007?
Also, please show me excuses that I made? I was essentially saying the D was excellent against USC, and that the O was poor.
Re: OSU vs. USC Take 2
That was not a great USC team regardless of what the experts say.
That was the most vanilla offense I have ever seen USC rununder Pete. The wideouts USC have are not great, and their best vertical threat was not playing (Ronald Johnson).
That team would get beat by 30 if they played the 2001 Miami, FL team.
Face it Pryor is not improving fast enough ( I am not trashing him because I wanted him just as bad as anyone).

USC has always been fairly vanilla. They have great O-lines and great RBs. They force teams to bring 8 into the box to stop it. They then use playaction. When throwing, they pass-protect with 7, and they have one on one matchups all over the field. They typically exploit the other team's DBs because of this...
Clearly, they threw the ball a bit less than usual, but they were trying to throw early. No one was open, and the D-line was getting pressure.
Time will tell, I guess. Though, the other Pac10 teams always compete better against them than non-conference foes. As of now, however, OSU was in a no-win situation. If they would've played the 2004 USC team and kept it close, it would have by definition made USC look ugly. They would have looked bad.
Re: OSU vs. USC Take 2
On Pryor. I don't understand why so many think he should already be at a competent level of execution. This is a kid who planned on playing in the NBA. He spent his early teen summers on the basketball court. Pryor's high school team had him playing street ball. He ran around and tossed it. He also played both defense and offense on the football team, so he wasn't talking "QB talk" on the sideline either. He has been to one spring and worked with the first team offense for one fall camp.
While kids like Barkley, Forcier, etc. have parents who have been drumming QB qualities into them their whole lives, and they've spent their summers honing the craft at camps.
It is only because of Pryor's phenomenal physique and speed that he is even on the field. The part of the job that happens between the ears is so far behind his body that it is like watching a child learn to write.
He is going to get it. But just because he throws a beautiful pass once, don't assume he should be able to do it every time at will and under extreme pressure.
In truth, his mental development is at a senior in high school stage. His body is NFL ready.

Pryor may never get "there". I think he should play wideout. He could be an All-American at WR right now.
I just don't see the development happening.
Wasn't it OSU fans making fun of Forcier before the season started? Saying no way a 6-feet nothing 190-lb Quarterback will lead Michigan back
