The Oaks guards are probably the biggest factor in this game. They have to be able to handle pressure if they want a chance to win

I agree with everything you said. After watching Ironton last night, the great thing that they do is really pressure the ball. The thing that I'm not sure that Oak Hill has been able to completely solve this year, has been when teams really come after them on defense, and pressure them the whole ballgame. I've seen them handle the pressure against Waverly and Coal Grove in the early portions of there games, but then wilt down the stretch and have unforced turnovers late in those games. I'm not sure that Darby, Hammond, and Hanning will be enough to beat Ironton, if the Tigers play defense the way they played last night.

You’re spot on. Although Oak Hill can score in the half court set. If they can break the press, they will be in the ballgame.

Ironton’s bench appears to be far deeper than Oak Hill’s. That is a factor that could prove to be essential in this one. They can run 20 fouls out in the court against the Oaks frontline.

Agree! I noticed that he was giving his starters little breaks throughout the game, mayby only a minute or two, but they always seemed fresh and rested and able to pressure the ball whenever they wanted. He seemed to be playing 7-9 players throughout the game. I know how good they play defense, but I think sometimes its forgotten just how good of a Pt guard that E. Wilson is. He's the QB of the team, and on any given night he and C. Large are very capable of having big scoring nights themselves.

I'm pretty sure that Mark Lafon was an assistant coach under Norm at Chesapeake, I'm not sure for how many years.

What a great game this could turn out to be. I've had the pleasure of seeing both teams play. I saw Ironton back in December and Oak Hill this month in February. I can only imagine the scoring machine of Wilson and Large has gotten even tougher since December. Ironton has the size and physicality to match up with Oak Hill. If Ironton scores like they're capable of, I think this one will be put a little out of reach pretty early on. I got
Ironton 66
Oak Hill 52

I agree. Ironton could win by 10 or more, but I think Norm will have a plan of being patent enough. I could see more of a 55-45 win. i also can see Oak Hill winning a nail biter too. I don't think Oak hill can win big though.

Oak Hill D is pretty good I don’t see ironton scoring on them with ease, Ironton D is all about the press. If oak hill breaks it they wil score, I’m going to say this will be a low scoring game and who can finish at the basket.

Coach LaFon can’t be conservative. He must make this game as uptempo as possible and run bodies at the Oaks. Their lack of depth can be exploited.

Ironton has too many weapons and too many athletes. The scoring output of Large and Wilson plus the physicality and rebounding by guys like Carrico, Grizzle, etc will be too much for the Oaks. Darby and Hammond may combine for close to 50 points, but nobody else will score. Ironton pulls away early and doesn't let the Oaks back in it.

Oh, just realized I already commented. Apparently I had much of the same thoughts today as I predicted the same score LOL
Goes to show how consistent I am haha

Gonna be a slugfest! Should be wildly entertaining. Best seats will be opposite side of court from the benches!

I think ironton wins but not by that much. I’ll go 60-52

Game will be live on facebook.com/lawrencecountylive in case anyone is interested. Cell service is always questionable at Jackson though.
