I went for some upsets (Portsmouth, LE, etc) and just about nailed them. Went for the “go big or go home” strategy. Looking at the standings, looks like I’m going home.

There were 4 true upsets this weekend in the 7, 13, 15 and 16 positions. The 4 vs 5 games not withstanding (thought Waverly v McClain was 50/50 and Ironton v Oak Hill expected)

mattash and a few others were 2/4 on these picks.

Most of us were 1/4 or 0/4 on these games.

Both Easterns were 2 seeds and both went down

Fairland losing by 23 is crazy especially since there were games this year where they shot the ball so well.

West Union possibly was less of a surprise as Western had some injuries and were a product of SOC1. SOC1 is fine for D4 but obviously doesn’t prepare a team for D3 and Eastern moving up seems in their best interests.

Looking at the schedule in front of us.... there will be some need to post matchups and choices from D2 and D3 (but D2 especially) before the D4 games are finished. I didn’t get the original thread started until early morning Friday 2/22 and that only gave us 12 or so hours to find the thread and post choices.

D4 sectional finals are 2/26 and 2/27 and D2 District Semis are 2/28 and 3/1. I will add at least D2 District Semi matchups by Monday 2/25 and figure out the best way to layer D3 and D4 in.

On another note, I think we need to pick it up a little and do a better job of picking winners — currently mattash is on top of the standings and if we don’t figure this out and knock him down a peg or two he will get the big head and start acting like he runs this place....
