It's kind of funny how 95% of us experts before the Sectionals, most of us were so sure that the Jackson Sec was so much stronger than the Waverly Sec. It may prove still to be true, but the first two games, not so much.

I hope it was the Gazette lol they got to the finals in 2006. They last won a district title in 1980 though

Ironton is a football school. Have had some really basketball teams but not surprised when they get knocked out early in basketball.

The waverly sectional wasnt as weak as most thought. The ovc wasnt that tough. Fairland won it with an entirely new team. Ironton had most everyone back.That tells me a few things. Not surprizedat all that Ironton lost

Football had a better season last year and should be pretty solid this year. Other than that, yes, they have been down for a good while now.

Congratulations to the Adena Warriors on the win........I thought going in that Ironton was the clear favorite, and after watching the game, the Warriors very much deserved to win, outplaying the Fighting Tigers at both ends. I honestly expected a better game from Ironton, having watched them about a half dozen times. In the tournament, though, falling behind big early is tough to make up, but IHS did make a spirited charge late. Credit goes to Adena for surviving that Tiger rally.

Ironton did have a nice rally late, but the horrible first half sealed their fate. I would guess they missed 6-8 shots in the lane in the first half and if just a couple of those would have went down, they would have had a chance to pull it off. Adena has nice length and I think they will cruise past Chesapeake.

IMO Ironton just couldn't get going I thought that Adenas perimeter defense was excellent Ironton had a really hard time at getting open shots they were all contested. I think Ironton just didn't have enough scorers other than Wilson and Large but Carieco did a good job in the paint. I think Ironton wins this game 9 out of 10 times they just happened to have a bad night at the worst time
