actually this was the one I was looking for..I think it speaks volumes. I have been to many college football games at different schools and never saw anything like this.

The vast majority of that make me smile with a great big crap eating grin.

It's too bad they have to leave such a mess though, sure would like to see
a little less liter.

I know how to keep my mouth shut and not say anything in Columbus. I do wear my maize and blue, but that gives no one any right to curse you to your face while their children are around. I was walking with my wife and it was not 5 minutes before middle aged men had their finger in my face cursing me. My wife had beer spit on her, a rat thrown at her, and some boy who did get a fist to his face decided to hit her with an umbrella during the 2004 game. This is the same woman who is in her 2nd year at Duke Law. She did not say a word to anyone and either did I.

If Ohio State fans feel like they are entitled to treat people like crap because they "hate" Michigan, then Ohio State fans deserve everything they get when they travel.

You can try and paint it what ever way you would like, but those 5% make your fan base look really bad!

Why should the opposing team's fans be treated nice?

Why should the home fans be PC, and be kind to the visitors?

Why would you ever expect them to in the first place?

Of the 200 customers a day I see, about 15 are died in the wool,
maize and blue wearing Michigan fans.
I asked them how they've been treated at OSU games, every one of them
said that they got yelled at, but that's about it, nothing worse than some of the other places.

It does not matter. If the Ohio State fans feel the kind of hate that you described it is time for all of them to grow up and get a life. If these people are that immature that they have to curse at opposing teams fans, spit on them, throw things, etc., and feel like they are entitled to do so, and you think that is ok, then there is something really wrong with you and the fan base. The sad thing is I believe that a good majority really feel that is ok.

I am a Michigan fan, of course I will wear maize and blue to the game. That gives no person the right to do any of the things I have described. If I say a Go Blue that still gives no on the right to spit beer on anyone. I forgot that my car was also rocked while I was waiting in traffic in 2004.

I strongly dislike Ohio State from a rivalry standpoint, but I am not going to curse people while I am in Ann Arbor. In fact I have never said anything negative to any Ohio State fans while in Ann Arbor. If they say Go Bucks I may shout back Go Blue or booo, but I am not going to flip them off, curse, spit, etc. If I saw Michigan fans doing some of the things that have happened to me to OSU fans, that would p*ss me off and I would say something. It is not right from any fan base.

Oh, and because you are wearing that Maize and Blue, and are in town on this Hallowed Day, THEY HATE YOU!!!

Not polite hate, like how the Klan hates black people. Or friendly hate, like how Hitler hated the Jewish race.

They hate you in a way that is only possible to conceive if you are in fact one of them.

If this is true then those people need to grow the flip up. If they can not behave themselves to the point of being an adult, then there is really no more to say. That is very extreme and if true, very sad. If someone actually thinks that it is ok to hate like that because of a sport team, then they are not very good human beings.

Coming down dressed in your crap colors, chanting your gay chat (go blow), in that atmosphere, is like
an islamic militant walking into a NYC firefighters convention and shouting, Death to the American Infadels.

They HATE YOU that much.

Dubs---seriously? gay? I mean hearing thousands of people chant O-H-I-O for hours on end is not annoying at all---or very simpleton for that matter. Seriously if it is that extreme, OSU fans deserve everything they get when they go on the road. Just sad.

I also have a friend who is a Texas grad. He was at the game in Columbus. Told me the fans were horrible. At the game in Austin said it was the same thing all over again.

USC fans said the OSU fans were great.

Note to self, when on the road, avoid places where people are wasted.

I am sure you polled every USC fan.

Come on man, you act like I have never been in a college town during game time. It is what it is. I did nothing to provoke anything. It happened. My opinion has been formed, and from all accounts some people feel thinking and acting like an immature nut is ok.

I still can't believe Purdue beat OSU.
I grew up hating Michigan, because I was born into it, like the Hatfields & McCoys thats just how it was. I hate FSU because Bowden has cheated for 20 years. But, I have never been violent or vulgar towards them. I came close to decking a Nole in '03, but didn't want to be arrested and lose my job in law enforcement at the time.
The only problem fans I encounter are FSU & Miami. Its a small fraction I'm sure, but seems like with Canes I only run into that 5% everywhere. The SEC fans I've known are a great bunch. The Fla-UGA game is crazy, tailgating is 4 days, and 99% friendly. I've tailgated with SEC fans from almost every team and never had a problem. We don't trash the town or campus either. UF puts out disposable cardboard boxes with trash bags in them all around campus on gamedays. There are no fires, car flipping, or riots when UF wins a national title.

I have enjoyed my SEC gameday experiences. Different then the Big Ten, but it is still very fun.

It was the general consensus of those I spoke to, and of those on the board I read.

A lot of fans are idiotic, but just the fact that you mentioned OSU fans take it elsewhere, shows that it happens elsewhere.

After OSU lost to UF, I had to just think about my future, put my head down, and walk through the people hopping up in my face to taunt me. They were idiots. However, one of my current best friends graduated from UF, and he is great. It isn't all of them. It isn't even most.

I have heard horror stories from my great aunt about the Big House. She had mustard thrown all over her shirt and in her hair. She is an old lady. She ranked UM, PSU, Wisconsin, and WVU has her worst experiences, and she goes to every single game as a retiree. It happens.

Depending on each person's own experience, that person will form an opinion of that team's fans.

Peake, you've left out the part that I said to preface the extreme comments.

You are being yelled at by people who have been drinking since WEDNESDAY,
and that is not a joke.

Like it was stated a few posts ago, when being the visitor, on a rivalry weekend,
in a hostile area, stay the heck away from the people who are drunk.

This is not a hard thing to do.

I have been to college campuses all over the eastern and southeastern US and midwest and by far, Columbus is the worst!!! As for the video posted earlier, that about sums it up at OSU on gameday. Classless and trashy.... And I hope you are not condoning all the crap that goes on Dublin. If so, you have a lot of growing up to do in life.

I was recently at the Notre Dame vs Washington game a few weeks ago...a guy in a ohio state jersey sat right in front of me..80,000 Irish fans and he stuck out like a sore thumb..but not one guy said anything to him. The guy ate his nachos..never stood up...never cheared for anyone..just sat there..and not one person said anything to him. Now, don't spin my words..EVERY team has idiot fans that open their mouths..just at OSU you don't have to go lookin' for them..but not in this occasion that I was present. A lot of my family are osu fans..even they have said they are embarassed to tell people when they are on vacation outside of ohio that they are buckeye fans because of the bad wrap they have. It is what it is. I have met some great buckeye fans..(my whole family) and many others..but the vast majority are beer guzzlin', cursing morons!

I am well aware of how to avoid drunk people. It is very difficult to avoid them when the are scattered like a cluster bomb all over the place. Those people made it a priority to come up to me, not me to them. It is what it is.

I think its funny how people love to bash OSU fans all over the board, how all the OSU fans are arrogant and treat everyone else like dirt. But they know some OSU fans personally and they are great people. Everyone has their horror stories. Rival fans that go into the other teams' house are going to get it. Its college football. Deal with it. College students are idiots during athletic events. I know because I am part of that population. No I don't get drunk every weekend and curse out rival teams fans but I know how it is when people come to the Shoe and sit near the student section. They get booed and yelled and cursed at. Most of the time they ask for it by trying to get attention and doing stupid cheers when their team makes a good play. It happens. Its football. I know plenty of OSU fans who have horror stories about The Big House or Camp-Randall, or any other rival stadium. Any real OSU fan on this board knows exactly what I'm talking about. Don't bash Buckeye Nation because of the relative minority of fans that you have experienced.

I am not bashing, I am stating facts about my experiences. I am well aware of how to conduct myself when I go to another city.

The problem is not just the students, it is the middle aged men who feel that they are entitled to relive their glory days and act like immature babies.

Of course you see it a certain way, you are one of them. It is not easy to see it from a different perspective unless you have been outside of Ohio.

Going to get it? Sure if you want to yell Go Bucks at me, or tell I suck, sure, ok, I can deal with that. Cursing, spitting beer on other fans, throwing dead rats, physically putting your hands on them or their things---well that is not a part of you are going to get it. That is not ok. If you feel it is, then you are one of the people I feel sorry for and needs to grow up fast. If not, then good for you.

People deserve to get cursed at and have things thrown at them because they cheer for their team? I do not think you or your fan base gets it. This is what is wrong with you or anyone who thinks it is ok to do these things.

I know football. I played it, I was around it for a long time.

I will continue to bash because of my experiences. I understand that it may be a minority of your fans that act this way, but I think it is a majority of your fans that feel it is ok---because it is just football right? Exactly.

agree.....

"It's football"...that is funny..no it is more than football..it is something thousand of kids and families attend every year..paying good money to see and moronic jerks ruin it. My friend works at the OSU ticket booth (takes tickets from people going into the stadium). He said his best memory of dealing with the extreme drunkeness at OSU what when a man peed his pants in line waiting to get in and he had to physically stop him from going into the staduim..it is that kind of crap everyone on here is talking about. If you are not one of those buckeye fans than why are you supporting the ones that are?? It's just football right?? NO.

I go with a group of OSU fans every single year. Most of the time there are more Ohio State fans with us then UM. We have been to Ann Arbor now 4 times. Not once has anything major happened. They have had Go Blue shouted at them, you suck, but no cursing or anything thrown at them.

The worst I have experienced was one of my friends had on a buckeye necklace, and someone said to him to take off the anal-beads from his neck.
