1,000 point scorers
Is that really a big thing anymore? With teams now playing 22 games a year and a majority of them starting as Sophomores a player now only has to avearage 15.1 points per game and with the three point shot IMO I don’t think that is hard to achieve. Add in tournament games and that avearage goes down on what you need to score.

Still a great accomplishment!
Starting as a sophomore in most leagues still isn’t the norm unless the player is pretty good to start with. Also, averaging 15 per for 3 years is no easy task. At those numbers the kid is typically gonna be at the top of the scouting report each night so those 15 per get tougher and tougher each time out. Not to mention having to stay healthy for three plus years. And the 3 point line isn’t a new thing. Been around a minute or two

Give me the guy who will sit down and play defense, pass when he should , get on the floor when the ball is loose, and score 10 or 12 a game. Give me 5 of them and I will win championships.

Helps to have a d1 athlete, 1000 point scorer type of player who can do the little things too.blockcharge7 wrote: Wed Mar 06, 2019 12:02 am Give me the guy who will sit down and play defense, pass when he should , get on the floor when the ball is loose, and score 10 or 12 a game. Re: 1,000 point scorers
Said a while back, scoring 1K points in High School basketball is still a great accomplishment and the ultimate measuring stick if a consistent "scorer"...however its just not as rare as it once was. And, as a result, career scoring records at schools (both boys and girls) are dropping like flies around the state. Almost 25% more regular season games are now played (22 vs 18) than there was pre-1970...simple math says the frequency increases.
Re: 1,000 point scorers
It’s still a legit accomplishment. Pretty impressive to go 15 ppg for 3 years. Not much room for injury either.
Re: 1,000 point scorers
I’ll list some I’m pretty sure of
Connor Scott (Washington CH) ....1000 exactly at South Webster
Gary Harrison as already stated
Doug Stiverson (Logan Elm) ....1000+ at Logan
Nathan Copas (North Adams).... 1000+ at North Adams
Maybe, not sure: Rob Beucler, Josh Arey, Travis Robertson
Close...Max Morrow scored 973 at Jackson
