Expected to miss 8-12 weeks. Definitely not the way you want to begin the season, with your All-Star second baseman on the DL. But, injuries happen unfortunately.

Re: 2019 Cincinnati Reds
Unfortunately injuries do happen and it seems that the ghosts of the last few years are lingering over the Reds. I know it is only spring training, but the Reds are 8-17 thru the 24th. Given that you tend to play as you practice, should our optimism about 2019 now be tempered?Chieftain2009 wrote: Sun Mar 24, 2019 9:28 pmExpected to miss 8-12 weeks. The report said that it was a severe groin strain. It was like a week ago.VetteMan wrote: Fri Mar 29, 2019 12:13 pmWhen and what kind of injury did Scooter sustain ?Chieftain2009 wrote: Sun Mar 24, 2019 9:28 pmExpected to miss 8-12 weeks. Re: 2019 Cincinnati Reds
I hate seeing the Reds Go from 44,000 fans on opening day to about 15,000 on Sunday. To me that is what sets them apart from the ELITE teams in MLB! RedSox Sell out all days, Yankees too! People need to show up and support! Also, this team cannot do the same thing they did the past 4-5 years. Some days they act like they don't even want to be there. Yesterday was one of those days. No Energy! I get that it was cold outside, but come on, Play with a sense of urgency! Hopefully they show up to play this Series vs. Milwaukee. If not, it will become another one of those years!!
Re: 2019 Cincinnati Reds
Unfortunately only the Red Sox, Yankees, Cubs, and maybe the Cards have the following where attendance transcends winning or losing records. The Reds will draw decent crowds if they can play .500 or better baseball. Even during the hay day of the Big Red Machine, Cincy averaged only 32K in a 50,000 seat stadium. Fenway and Wrigley lie on hallowed ground, unfortunately GAPB does not.baseball16 wrote: Mon Apr 01, 2019 12:38 pm I hate seeing the Reds Go from 44,000 fans on opening day to about 15,000 on Sunday. Re: 2019 Cincinnati Reds
The first full week of the regular season and the Reds are already 4 games behind. A week does not a season make, but it looks like the sole accomplishment of the off season deals was unloading Homer Bailey and his salary.

Re: 2019 Cincinnati Reds
I don't think this version of the Reds will last long. They'll start hitting better, and the bullpen will get it figured out. A bright spot so far for the Reds has been Luis Castillo, we saw he got the surprise start on opening day, and man he's impressed so far. He's given up a total of 2 runs in 12.2 innings in his first 2 starts. And he has 17 strikeouts.
Re: 2019 Cincinnati Reds
The way I look at it: With 162 games in MLB and 16 in The NFL, 10 MLB games are about equal to 1 NFL game.
So, 1-4 would be like The Bengals coming out and playing a bad first half in week 1. It's disappointing, but I wouldn't read a lot into it yet. I'll wait another 10 games before making any broad conclusions about what they are.
