Re: DII Southeast District
So only 2 from each side advance to OU for Districts? Correct me if I am wrong but has been 4 from each side and OU and Athens HS both hosting a couple games.93Bulldog wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2019 7:24 am Only ONE will survive this year, which is absolutely a bummer.

Did OU keep the Regionals as well this year or is it going back to Zanesville?

The South is brutal. Gallia is the worst team and they have a pitcher that can beat every teamdanicalifornia wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2019 8:25 am South through 4/16

If it goes back to Zanesville is will be a travesty! especially since OU now has Turf infield. If it goes back to Zanesville it shows me that someone has something over someone in the OHSAA. Gant Stadium should be turned into a Cow pasture!
Just like in Basketball: Sectionals and Districts are loaded. Will be some very good games and battles for that 1 spot to Regionals. It will be much earned.

Re: DII Southeast District
True district championship! From what districts are the other three teams in the regional?
Re: DII Southeast District
So with the 8/9 games on Sat, will those teams hold back their aces and try to grind out a win so they can give their best to try to upset the #1 seeds?
Same issue for the 4/5 seeds Monday although they have an extra day until Thursday. Rain on Mondays will change pitching plans. Rain on Sat makes Sunday games?

Looks like both sides could be a blood bath, only one moving on is rediculous

Marietta is now 12-5
All 5 losses in ECOL
Dover: 2-0 and 3-0
Zanesville 3-2
Meadowbrook 4-2 and 6-0
District wins over Warren twice, Vinton County, Meigs
Also beat Logan, but of course they are D-1

I tend to get really irritated at quotes like this. Especially since the small organization that has to run the park for the city of Zanesville has put thousands of dollars that they raise themselves into that park, and even now are planning some major renovations to it. I'll be the first one to say that at times maintenance has been lacking there, but it is a much better park than it used to be and will get even better. It's a historic park and a lot of great players have played there through the years and hosts a ton of Baseball during the late spring and early summer months. It doesn't deserve the reputation some people try to pin on it.baseball16 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2019 8:47 pm If it goes back to Zanesville is will be a travesty! especially since OU now has Turf infield. Zanesville is a great location for a regional tournament, just like it is for state FB semi-finals and Regional finals. Yeah, it's not a college D1 facility yet, and the people running it do not have the resources OU has, but it is a good place to watch and play a game.
Will officiate anything-- But Baseball Season is Never Far Away!

Has the seating improved? Last time I was there it was awful. The playing field is bad and the dugouts terrible.jkumpire wrote: ↑Sat Apr 27, 2019 7:22 pmI tend to get really irritated at quotes like this. Re: DII Southeast District
I am glad that the City of Zanesville is finally putting money into this facility. However, it is not a Regional Facility! I will stand by that! History is History! It has terrible dugouts, terrible seating, and people in charge had no idea how to take care of a field. It's where it needs to be and that is Ohio University. I stand by my remarks, but good luck to The City of Zanesville on the upgrades! Upgrades are Upgrades, but who will be put in charge of keeping care of it? If it's the same group then you might as well be flushing money down the toilet! Baseball fields are year-round maintenance. You can't just step on the field in March or April and expect to have a great surface to play on!
