OSU jersey change!
Listening to ESPN radio here in Columbus today.
They were discussing the upcoming jersey change for the Buckeyes football team.
The original leak was that they were changing the white road jerseys,
and might be going to a white helmet when on the road.
Towards the end of the show, they had a guy call in with "inside" info,
stating that the jersey change was instead going to be a one time event,
coordinated with Michigan for the game in Ann Arbor.
Both teams have apparently agreed to wear throwbacks for the game,
and the Buckeyes plan to wear a throwback similar to what Les Horvath and
Bill Willis wore back in the mid-40's. This would feature a white helmet, if they stayed true to era.
We are waiting for more info, but while we wait, what are your thoughts on the issue.

Re: OSU jersey change!
Just from my experience of being an Irish fan...when the Irish decided to wear the throwback green jerseys, most ND fans cringe..never liked the idea of throwbacks..atleast if your going to do it..make sure it is a gimmee game..imo.

It is now official on the OSU website. A report has been issued that they will be wearing throwback jerseys against Michigan as part of an upcoming rivalry marketing campaign by Nike. Michigan will also be wearing some sort of alternate throwback.

That picture is not supposed to be of the throw back jersey, it won't look like that
one.

I was just about to update the thread, and mention that it's the 1954 throw back.
Let me just quietly state my opinion on this:
IT SUCKS
At Buckeye Corner, I sell jerseys everyday. This is not a great way to honor the 1954 undefeated national title team,
as it's being portrayed by Gene Smith.
It's a way for Nike and the almighty dollar to exploit the tradition of THE GAME, and get more jersey sales.

Nope, not a student.
My wife work for the Critical Care lab at the Hospital,
and I work for Buckeye Corner, and have been a life long fan.
Might become a student, and finish my degree there,
the 1/2 price tuition benefit through my wife is getting very tempting.

This won't hurt anyone.... You don't have to go and buy one and they CAN do this and tribute the 1954 team.
Isn't that just doing their job well? If you can find a way to kill 2 birds with 1 stone then go for it!
If at your job, you found a way to gain exposure for your business while making more money you'd be praised.
I won't buy the jersey, but I like the idea and am anxious to see it.

Nike still has them under contract for 2 full seasons after this one.

Then don;t hide behind silly statements, just come out atnd say: We want the extra couple hundred grand that
this one time jersey change will bring.
Also, do it against a team where a win is definatly a sure thing,
and, if you're picking 1954, then do it at a home game.
The overwhelming majority of existing color photos from that season feature the scarlet home jersey,
more people would recognize the home jersey from that year.

FSU is making the same change, along with Texas as well..check these out, they really are nice. For any school would look nice, but FSU has the complete package of photos..

Re: OSU jersey change!
Hey DUB I gotta question for ya since u work for the buckeye corner..... U have any idea where I can get a helmet Nike vision eye shield all clear with the red Nike on one corner and the red check on the other, like the visors worn by posey and a few others this season... I've looked everywhere around here but all I found were the common ones whit the blac stickers on the corners with white logos.... I have a OSU helmet I've fixed as a collectible and wanted to add this piece...let me know something, thanks man!!

The throw back should be on sale at Buckeye Corner the week of the 15th of November.
Don't know number supply, quantity, or if they will be both colors from the 54 season,
the ones for the game will be white.
I won't be able to use my discount for this one
Due to the limited supply and nature of the product.
I'll pass on more info as I find out from work.
As for the visor question, you'll probably have to call Nike, we have never had them.
