I'm not sure how far back you want to go on the coal mining history but Federal's district had at least 3 mines I know of:
Canaanville
Lathrop (Stewart)
Broadwell (Stewart).
Meigs County had 3 mines operating in the 1970's.
You are right that the travel will be cut down for the Falcon parents.
Another thing is that kids in the Miller district shop and hang in Lancaster and will see kids they play outside of school.
That doesn't happen much now except for seeing Trimble kids.

Thanks Fortdawg. I was unaware of those mines in the FH district. However, those Meigs County mines you mentioned were nowhere near the Eastern and Southern districts. They were close to Vinton County and a few of the "coal mine towns" are actually in the VC school district.

don't see the old SEOAL coming back....FAC is doing too well......and Athens would want nothing to do with playing teams in a rekindled SEOAL....but agree the TVC will have a shake up in the coming years
