Top 10 Teams in the SE District
Top 10 Teams in the SE District
Hard to compare good D6 teams to good D3-4 teams but list your top 10
1. Ironton
2. Jackson
3. Trimble
4. Sheridan
5. Unioto
6. Gallia Academy
7. Portsmouth
8. Southeastern
9. Valley
10. Minford
Close: Wellston, Paint Valley, Adena, New Lexington, Waverly, PWest
For me I’ll keep it that you must be above .500 despite that I feel Wheelersburg would likely best most of those teams...Athens and others probably as well.

I'm a Southeastern grad, and current Warrior, but I would put PV above any SVC team until proven otherwise.

Re: Top 10 Teams in the SE District
Hard to tell on where Unioto should be listed. Amanda (beat ‘The U’ 32-14) needed a Hail Mary to beat a Liberty Union team at home that (in my amateur opinion) would finish in the bottom half of the SOC 2, TVC-Ohio and the SVC.
Not saying they aren’t top 10 nor that they don’t deserve mention, but there may not be a lot to separate them from SVC foes PV, SE and Adena at this point? (JMO, but I think Adena would beat Amanda if the two played. Saw Adena in a scrim, I know what they’re capable of and they had a win vs Court House you can’t sneeze at.)
Seems like right now, SE Ohio has three teams (Ironton, Jackson and Trimble) that are “great”/in a tier of their own. Then there’s a lot of good teams, but few if any of those good teams would come within 10 points of the top three. Maybe Sheridan? Then there’s obviously two teams in Athens and Wheelersburg that have played some beefy scheduled that suggest they are in fact better than what their record indicates.

It’s kind of a guess of course. We’ll know more each week. I don’t consider last year(s) and scrimmages mean very little.

These type of list are always going to be opinion . I can agree with paint valley being above the svc schools, but I highly disagree that adena beats Amanda-Clearcreek. Amanda is way more physical than the svc teams with good athletes. The one problem they have is the ability to throw the ball down field. Their skill guys are very fast and strong they could man up with anyone in the svc with little problems

Re: Top 10 Teams in the SE District
A lot of unknowns being only 3 weeks in...New Lexington for example. 3-0 and just destroying 3 0-3 teams. I know they have CJ Ratliff one of the better athletes in the entire district and two other Ratliff’s at skill positions....and another good back.
Is Paint Valley better than Unioto? Southeastern? Adena? Very well might be. Coach Hollon has a tremendous program a big crafty QB and a Ruby speed skill kid in Ison. Games will prove who is better after they face each other. Adena beating Washington by 20 surprised me and Unioto waxed Waverly. I’d be quite surprised if PV took it to Waverly like that.
