We don’t have west and Portsmouth kids. We have burg kids. They came to us before junior high on their own. We don’t have kids live with the coach like some kickers do....

Ironton beats a team once in eight years and is still talking crap 3 weeks later.

Stay on topic please. Ironton has the advantage in this game imo. They are really good with run defense

the wheelersburg game is over. their score with Ashland means lil to us. you can't compare anything like that, ever. this is a rivalry game that is so old they lived in caves and chased dinosaurs down for food. the rivalry can take so many twists and turns. and being at Ashland we are going to have to pound them into submission. I hope the game is similar to the burg game in the end, the burg game was only 10-3 at the half, and was anyone's game to win. but the 2nd half the tigers kept hammering away and this year burg just didn't match up physically, and were exhausted. I hope that is what we can do with the tomcats. I look for a close 1st half. because both teams are very good. but I'm hoping our run game can continue to wear the tomcats down. offensive lineman love nothing more than downhill blocking and getting a running game established. and it excites the coaches and fans as well. my question is can we establish a passing game. salyers is getting his legs under him. and is a huge threat to run as well. the tigers pounded out a solid win over a very nice fairland team. if they stay focused, limit turnovers, and not worry about officiating and just play sound, fundamental football I think the tigers are too talented to trip up. but anything can happen in rivalry games.

I think Ashland wins this game by 1 or 2 touchdowns. Ironton didn’t ‘beat down’ the burg at 260-230 total yards. The score didn’t reflect the real game. Wheelersburg also came out passing, something Ironton won’t be able to do. Ashland’s line was stout and they have some great backs. Imo, this game truly proves what Ironton has this year. Good luck to the tiger
s.

Burg was dominated hands down. Matthews had an 80 yard run, so 150 for that high flying offense, other than 1 run after a 30 minute delay. Ironton played average on offense and still put up 30. Ironton has gave up 13 points in 3 games. Ironton's defense is allowing 4 points a game. Ironton is a big physical team, they want contact. Ashland and Burg are quick and rely on speed. Ironton is a brick wall and pound teams until they give up. Ashland and Burg was a good game because they are similar. Ironton's built like a Johnstown Monroe or Johnson Central team. Ironton too physical, the special season continues.

Ironton 35
Ashland 21

Ironton has played Ashland about 91 times and Portsmouth well over 100 times. Ironton and Burg have only played 31 games. Believe it or not it was hard for Ironton to schedule local opponents when Lutz was around. So brag about an 8 game winning streak, but remember Ironton 18 Burg 13 overall. Maybe ask why Burg didn't schedule Ironton more before Lutz retired. Im tired of hearing Burg people act like 1 win and we think we are a dynasty. Look at the all time playoff records and state title appearances. We've been here before. Pendleton is starting a new era and its looking great. Respect to get respect.

I like the Ironton defense in this one, and I think we'll be looking at 31-14 Ironton.

nekysportsfan wrote: Sat Sep 14, 2019 12:22 pm Ashland is a soft football team this year. The 2 running backs are good, elusive, and speedy, but their line isn't physical and the defense is small. This will be exposed in a big way this week against Ironton and later this season when they play Russell. It's a matter of boys against men. Football is a physical and violent sport. Ashland is about to get that lesson this week just as Wheelersburg did in week 1.
Afraid I agree with you, Ironton wins handily

Back when I was on the burg topic after the Ironton game there were Ironton fans talking, trolling bad! All the way up until burg beat Ashland. So I guess burg fans are repaying it back to the Tigers.
