Everyone will have a different opinion and thats fine but my feelings were that if Colt played then Texas would have won.

classof86---I hate Texas but you can't tell me that not having McCoy, which Texas' whole offense is built around, isn't a good reason to say that Texas probably would have won if he did play? Considering the freshman kid brought them back into it until the last 2 turnovers sealed the deal. Really? If a kid can come off the bench and move the ball for 2 scores and a 2 pt conversion you are going to tell me Colt McCoy wouldn't have done the same and more with less turnovers?Bama's last 3 scores all came on red zone turnovers from the backup qb. Like I said--I can't stand either team but it is what it is and its another disappointing bunch of BcS. ;-)

Gee ManitouDan---- I didn't realize the SEC had any good teams after you get past Florida and Alabama this season? Everyone bandwagon jumps onto that conference when it is no different than the others---a few good top teams and then the rest. It's all a bunch of crap. Your SEC champ(and BCS) almost got beat by Auburn(a 5 pt win) on November 27---you know the same Auburn team that got outplayed by the Big Ten's lowly Northwestern. Any given day my friend---we don't know until they line 'em up who will win. BTW the Big Ten has a winnng record against the SEC over the last 12 years so let that soak in awhile. After watching the bowls I wonder if the rest of college football can catch up to the speed of the Big Ten!! :122246

After seeing Alabama play I think they should be Co champs with Boise State.

Let me see if I can break it down as unbiased as I can be:

1st quarter- Texas very early, Bama rattled. Losing McCoy early was a problem for Texas on offense but also for Bama on defense because they were not expecting the freshman to play. Mo begins to change to Tide. Bama with a slight edge for the quarter for giving up only 6 points to Texas who had great field position. Bama scores TD to lead 7-6

2nd Q.- Total domination by the Crimson Tide. Texas struggled on offense. McCoy does not play defense for Texas but I agree the game would have been closer. McElroy for Bama was frustrated all night by the pressure of Texas.

3rd Q.- Total domination by Texas. Bama goes ultra conservative on offense. (Reminded me of a far right wing, Republican) The freshman for Texas gets the jitters out of his system and hooks up (no pun intened) with #8 for some nice plays.

4th Q.- A game of runs by both teams. Bama trying to run the clock out and Texas attacking like crazy. Two things here turned the game IMO. 1. The Bama defense kept blitzing and putting pressure on Texas. Texas won a few on offense and Bama won a few on defense. 2. Turnovers at critical times in the game. 24-21 game and two huge turnovers by Texas late in the game. Bama scores to win the game and National Championship. Good teams make big plays when their back is against the wall. Texas made a few and Bama made a few.

Now, IMO, we cannot say Texas would win if they had McCoy or Bama would win the game with him or without him. That is something that we will never know. Did Texas look good early? Yes! Did McCoy make Texas look good early? No! The lack of special teams play by Bama had Texas inside the Bama side of the field twice, early in the 1st quarter. The only reason Texas had 6 points instead of 14 is because of Bama's defense. On the flip side, Bama could not get anything going in the air because McElroy was running for his life because of the Longhorn defense. Two, outstanding defenses IMO.

I was not crazy about the late TD either by Bama. Bama starts the drive on the Texas 27 yard line with 1:48 to play. Run goes to about the 10 yard line with a face mask penalty tacked on after the play. It really is a catch 22 for Saban, dang if I do and dang if I dont. 1:41 to go in the game, Bama gets the ball on the 5 yard line and runs a dive play up the middle. Texas still has 1 timeout left for sure, could have been 2. 51 seconds to go in the game, 2nd and goal from the 2 1/2 -3 yard line and Bama runs a dive play up the middle again for the TD and 47 seconds to play. IMO, Bama should have hit a knee then and there and walked out with a hard fought, 31-21 win. I told my wife and two boys/men, 23 & 20, that was not a good thing to do. Everyone who knows me, knows I live, eat and breathe Alabama Crimson Tide sports but I disagree 100% with that last TD. In closing, let me say that as I heard Colt McCoy speak at the end of the game, I respect him more as a person now than I ever will as a QB. HE IS A CLASS YOUNG MAN!

Alabama Mike you were right on with your breakdown of the game.

It would have been hard to tell if McCoy would have made the difference in this game. Would have been interesting if Texas would have scored a TD instead of settling for a FG in the first quarter. Along with not throwing the TD Int at the end of the second quarter. That would have made a different game.

Texas didn't make the plays to win the game. It did become an interesting game to watch and is why teams need to play 4 quarters to win.

McCoy spent 5 minutes with Tim Tebow in New York City, and Colt is a better man from it. ;-)

Good clean game by both teams. Nice to see Bama back on top after 20 years. I have lots of Bama friends from my many trips working at Talladega. But, I still think Saban is a tool.

THE OHIO STATE BUCKEYES ARE 5-3 , IN BCS GAMES. THIS IS SUPPOSSED TO BE ABOUT---TEXAS/BAMA. AND THIS POSTER THINKS THAT WITH COLT THEY'D HAVE WON. NOTHING TO DO WITH THE BIG TEN. NEARLY BEAT THEM WITH A TRUE FROSH, COLD OFF THE BENCH.

McCoy was a devout Christian before he met Tebow, and worked hard in the community and with others
sharing his faith and helping those in need. Tebow had nothing to do with it.

You wouldn't have known it about Colt though, because he doesn't seek out any microphone that he can find
to douse himself in self promoting hype.

What in the heck does Purdue and the Big Ten have to do with this game, or it's outcome?

Bitter much?

Tebow gets microphones shoved in his face...he doesnt seek them out. Theres a difference. Gator Envy sure does suck.

Ill change that...SEC Envy sure does suck.

If you all want to argue about who is the better Christan that is stupid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Both players serve Christ, and spread his message in the way god wants them to.

Why? WHY? WHY????? Why is it every time there is a thread about an SEC team those fans feel the need to bring up the Big Ten? It goes the other way around to!!

I guess you didn't get the sarcasm in my post. That was a shot at Verne Lundquist and Gary Danielson. I agree Colt McCoy is a good man and really felt bad for him being hurt. It was not easy for him to even speak when the camera was shoved in his face after the game. I wish Tebow could have handled the Bama loss like that instead of crying on the sideline.
