Pete "The Cheat" out at USC?
Seattle fired Jim Morra today,
and stated that they were looking to fill the spot with Pete Carrol.
Pete is losing his top 2 running backs to the NFL, and Arron Corp is transfering to Richmond.
The NCAA is about to give USC the lashing they have so greatly earned.
Seattle already talked to Carrol last week in LA, in a preemptive move to see where he stood.
Chris Mortenson of ESPN has stated that Carrol is likely to be hired as the next coach at Seattle.
Looks like Colin Cowherd might have to find a new afternoon delight!

Pete maybe looking to get out. There has been a lot of problems that have gotten pushed aside while he has been there.
He didn't do well as a NFL coach before.
Seattle has had problems with injuries and he will not be able to bring in the top talent each year. Maybe his former USC players will get together and want to play for him again but that maybe for less money than what they could get elsewhere.

Maybe he's got a little bit of that Belechek style still in him
Like Bill, he sucked at his first NFL job, but you can go from idiot to genius real fast,
just like Belicheck did simply by leaving the Browns.

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/sports_ ... coach.html
Article is from the LATimes, and talks about the tentative 7 million per year deal that's
on Pete's table to become the President of football operations and head coach.
He doesn't have anything left to accomplish at the college level,
he's going to get a fat pay raise,
and he's going to get out of dodge before the NCAA comes a knocking.

The LA Daily News is also reporting the Carroll is set to sign a 5 year contract with the Seahawks. USC AD Garrett is reported to be courting Oregon State coach Mike Riley as his #1 choice. Others are ex-USC player and NFL coach Jeff Fisher and Stanford coach Jim Harbaugh.

Jack DelRio is part of that discussion too.
If USC is looking for replacements, and Pete hasn't even left yet, then he's all but gone.
I'd say good luck to him, but I'd rather get a good laugh.

ESPN reports that the deal is done in principal, 5 years/35 million. Fisher says he isn't interested. Can't say that I blame him as it looks like USC is going on probation in the near future.
Carroll gets the money and skips town. Wasn't a very good pro coach the first time around, IMO.

On NFL Network, he rated as one of the top 10 worst college-to-pro coaches ever.
Hopefully he has an even worse time of it this time around. . . and hopefully they strip USC of every win they ever "earned" during the Reggie Bush years, including their National Championship.

They would be wise to talk to Steve Sarkisian, who left a year ago for Washington.
Re: Pete "The Cheat" out at USC?
Dick Vitale during a basketball game today voiced his displeasure of Pete leaving USC with the NCAA coming down on them soon. Pete can leave to the NFL without any penalty. He said that USC players and coaches in the next few years will suffer because of Pete.
He makes some good points. To bad that if you commit violations at a school you coached that you should then have to sit out a year even if you go to the pro's. That would make those coaches think more before they screw the school where they are at. Like Calipari in basketball.

Yeah, I feel real bad for those players left behind...free ride, clothes, shoes, cars, houses for their families.

Yea they got it rough!!

Re: Pete "The Cheat" out at USC?
There is a certain basketball coach in Lexington, KY right now who is cut from the same mold, except Pete actually won championships, and no one seems to care as long as you are winning. Pete is a great coach but it is nothing new for a coach to get out of town before the hammer comes down (cough Lou Holtz and his crap advice).

Peake, I gave UK fans just as much hell for that hire!
It was very funny that they UK sited those issues when they ignored him and hired Gilliespe.
Yet, when they lost more games than acceptable, those issues went away.
