Relax, Portsmouth has only beaten Ironton two years in a row and the Tigers have a nice little team this year and might even get their revenge and win the league, hang in there.

It’s not over yet. Ironton has to be a heavy favorite to beat Portsmouth, but at halftime last year nobody thought PHS would come back on them like they did either.

This has to be the original OVC teams worst nightmare though Ironton Portsmouth and Gallia finishing 1 2 3. But again, it’s one year, if it continues this way for years to come, I could see them regretting the invite, but only time will tell.

From an Ironton stand point, no the OVC is not preparing you for deep playoff runs though. Portsmouth and GA having good years but aren’t what they were 15,20 years ago and there are no Desales type teams on the tigers schedule.

Ironton and the OVC are and will be a good fit. While the Fighting Tigers program future is bright under Coach Pendleton, one likely championship season and one victory over Wheelersburg does not guarantee football dominance as was the case under Bob Lutz. That and the last time I checked, league membership involves more than football.

Ironton picked up 9 starters or the league would be a good fit! They have players all over the tri-state that came in and started this year. How many times has Ironton won the OVC?

Ironton, Portsmouth, and GA all need to leave. The pecking order in the conference is those three above the others, in any given order, on any given year.

come on 14u
you are better than this post. Jones, Howell and Book the kicker are only transfers that start this year. You need to have more faith in your alma mater. don’t make up excuses before the game is played. PHS has a chance for a league title.
you are too good of a poster than to be posting crap
like 9 starters new from out of town. come on.

ironton played for multiple state titles in a league that was terrible football wise.... the seoal. the key is to play great non conference schedule. by the way, where would ironton go? will burg leave the soc? will gallia and portsmouth leave ovc?

ironton needs to actually win the league a few

Like I’ve said, I wouldn’t be talking about those kids unless you know their situations.

Im sick of hearing that bs. Every school has transfers. Burg, East, New Boston, Green are all beside each other and kids choose what schools they want to go to. Just like Ironton is near Coal Grove and Rock Hill. When Ironton is winning theres always a bs reason. Pendleton is a winner and has changed the atmosphere. Of course kids want to play for him. Under Vass we had transfers too, but nobody said anything because we weren't dominating like we are now.

IMO the ovc is a joke and ironton, portsmouth and gallia academy all three need to leave. Where they would go I don’t know but IMO they are all three to good for the ovc

You Ironton fans can brush away the transfer statements all you want but it's real. With all OVC schools being quite small adding 2-3 extra athletes per grade drastically improves depth and overall talent. Take those transfers off of the team then Ironton is an average to solid team with or without Carrico. Would be like a talented Portsmouth Parker team.
In regard to other sports Ironton has not made a difference in the OVC.
My honest opinion is Ironton can leave the OVC and take their transfers with them. Then no local schools should play them and they will be forgotten.
The real school that should not be in the OVC is Gallipolis. They are too big. Portsmouth is a good fit. Drop GA and add Oak Hill.
Real answer is merge OVC and SOC. OVC as small school division and SOC as large school.
Just one person's opinion.
