Week 3: OSU @ Miami 9/17/11
Re: Week 3: OSU @ Miami 9/17/11
He might not be horrible down there though,he has had some flashes of brilliance the past three years and it will be just our luck he will be on fire Saturday night, seems like he is always better early in the year and also had some reciever dropsies last year up here, but I hope the rushers gets to him early,if he gets time he could be dangerous

Looks like the secondary is one of OSU strong points this year.I thought they made some big plays last week.Linebackers are average.

OSU is getting 3 pts on the line for this game.
This game wouldnt worry me much with Herron, Adams and Co on the field. With the loss of these starters and the new return of Hall and Howard, I think it will be a close game. Toledo, regardless of how well the do the rest of the year, had a gameplan and stuck to it. They found holes in the OSU defense in a very short amount of time.
Dubs is right on the money, OSU has to force Harris into turnovers and our line has to force him out of the pocket but also contain him from running to the edge. I am sure Harris has matured and learned a lot over the offseason and will play better than last year vs OSU.

Miami wins the Cheat-O's Bowl 27-10. QB scrambles for his life behind screen door on a submarine O-line. 'Canes more or less back to full strength and OSU still down 4 starters plus injuries, Bollmans' pseudo O-line coaching and Fickell's lack of confidence in Miller spells doom for the Bucks

i think the buckeyes have a fine year. toledo is gonna suprise some people this year. i look for that to be a barnburner with boise this week in toledo. mark my words.we'll see we beat a very disciplined , fundamental toledo team. and luke can get the job done.

folks can call him an idiot, mindless and the like. but i see only several coaches under this kinda pressure right now, luke fickell, al golden, and maybe brian kelley, but you all have buried him, and he is 2-0.
Re: Week 3: OSU @ Miami 9/17/11
Toledo is not by any means a world beater or a great team but considering their experience, gameplan, and will to beat the Bucks, I think they had a better shot at winning last week than the U has this week in Miami. Toledo is not a more talented team but probably has the coaching advantage and definitely has a chemistry and gameplan advantage over a team like Miami. Their system gave us fits and Paige is a talented guy and their QB threw the ball very accurately most of the time Saturday. In all Toledo/Miami would be a push at best if not favor Toledo so I am not too worried thinking Toledo is just a "sister of the poor" or something.
I do agree with f&b about our line. This is an experienced line for the most part and the highest rated line in terms of recruiting ever at tOSU and they simply haven't improved like expected which is directly reflected back on coaching. If any coach should be in the hot seat it is Bollman, but of course he should have been in that hot seat for the past half decade or so. If Fickel stays, I think he will see the light and show Bollman the door. The whole offensive system is way to elementary to work against good teams or worse yet to beat a team that is better than we are. Looks great against lesser caliber teams but what happens when the matchup favors the other team. History tells us that we win the games we should with our system but struggle when the competition is even or advantage the other team.

i hear ya, and i think the buckeyes win this one , in a close contest. but i'm serious about this toledo has a very solid team, and very good coaching. i think they'll give boise state fits this week, when boise travels to toledo. people will see we beat a fine toledo team, that i think is on the cusp of something big. you gotta remember these mac teams are full of guys, that just barely for whatever reason were not quite this or that, to be on a big ten team. and their o-line was extremely big.

I think Toledo is a good team. I also think that with Bauserman leading the offense, it will be a train wreck in Miami. If Miller gets in early, look out. If he sticks with Bauserman in a close game, he will freeze up just like he did vs Toledo. Only our offense will have a harder time running between the tackles vs Miami, and will have a tough time moving the sticks.
Bauserman looked good the first series. Then when Toledo took the lead he looked like a deer in headlights. Miami is too talented to go against their defense without a QB that is a serious threat!

By the end of the night Miami will be downgraded to a Tropical Storm, and the O-H-I-O chant will be overheard circling the Miami "Home Field"!

Another question: what are you haters going to say about the Buckeyes close game against Toledo, if the Rockets beat Boise St in Toledo this weekend.
I don't think it will happen, but I'd like to see how the OSU game perspective changes if it does!

Its funny that nobody has said anything about the "Lack of institutional control" yet at Boise St. I wonder if that has any negative or positive influence on their game vs Toledo? I know this is an OSU vs Miami thread.....just throwing it out there.

I doubt it does, that issue is a "media black eye" and doesn't effect current players. Heck the pony express probably hasn't even delivered the message out in Idaho yet! Lol
Re: Week 3: OSU @ Miami 9/17/11
What I think is funny is how ESPN talked about Ohio State barely getting by Toledo and nothing said about a higher ranked VT in a close game with power house East Carolina. Big name teams struggle every year with little teams early in the season, people put way to much in to these games. Ohio State will be fine.

I really don't know why anyone is surprised that the Toledo Rockets play most of the BCS teams they play close or even beat them. They are a fine football program. What puzzles me is why the BCS teams all want to play the "Little Sisters of the Poor" but none of them will allow them to crash their party come bowl time. Might have to do with money-just guessing!

Bollman has said that Hall is likely to start Saturday.
Nathan Williams is out, he had orthroscopic knee surgery today.
Philly Brown is doubtful, sprained ankle.

Yeah, but look at it another way; not too many little sisters turn down a big payday. Sometimes your little sister is just a hooker!javon white wrote:I really don't know why anyone is surprised that the Toledo Rockets play most of the BCS teams they play close or even beat them.
