WK11: #7 Portsmouth Trojans(8-2) @ #2 Ridgewood Generals 10-0
I don't know much about Ridgewood this year other than nobody has beaten them. SOS is almost identical in D5 Ridgewood at #85 and Portsmouth at #89 As both have had some down teams on the slate this year. However Ridgewood dominated their opponents while Portsmouth had issues with some of the teams on theirs. Ridgewood averaged 48.5 points on offense and gave up 10.5.
Portsmouth scored 32.4 a game and gave up 24.3. According to Drew Pasteur Ridgewood will be by far the toughest team Portsmouth has faced ranked #1 in r19, #2 in d5 and #62 in the state. He has Portsmouth ranked 7th, 33rd and 296th respectively. With our previously toughest opponents being Ironton and Gallia Academy at 115th and 185th in the state. We would be the third toughest team on Ridgewoods schedule after #96 Indian Valley and #229 Far away. As far as playoff history this will be Ridgewoods 14th postseason and 5th in the last 6 years, all appearances are since 2003. Their best performances were performance was a state semifinal in 2009. They lost in the regional semi in 04,15,18 and the 1st round in 03,05,06,07,08,10,11,14 and 16. Portsmouth is on their 11th trip and first back to back since 2002. Portsmouth made state semifinals in 1984 and 2000, Regional final in 01 and 02, Regional semi in 88 and 91 and has lost in the first round in 99,04,07, and 18. I will post stats as soon as I get them for each team but obviously Parker and Roe are the key pieces for Portsmouths offense with Parker averaging close to 10 yards a carry and Roe was around 1200 passing. Portsmouth has a lot of speed, skilled receivers and good linebackers with a decent secondary. However we are undersized on both lines with our o line averaging around 200-210 and our d line closer to 190.

Re: #7 Portsmouth Trojans(7-3) @ #2 Ridgewood Generals 10-0
The only times Ridgewoods offense has been stopped this year was when they stopped themselves with penalties and turnovers. I think they went about 5 or 6 games before the first team offense ever punted. They are very good at the skill positions and can beat you a lot of different ways. Both lines are big and stout, D line especially. The Indian Valley win was a statement win for them on the road. Other than that have not been tested for more than 3 quarters. Great atmosphere at home and very tough to beat there.

Yeah, I knew they were probably really good, but Drew apparently thinks they are week 15 good.

Plan on making the long 3 hour drive for this one. No way I can’t not go. Made the trip to Madison last November, will be at Ridgewood Saturday night. I like going to new places and seeing teams I’ve never seen, so the drive is fine I suppose. It’s going to be another cold one. I hope the Trojans show up focused and play spoiler. It’ll be tough, our line will be severely overmatched, but I’m going to guess the speed advantage goes to Portsmouth. I’ll also bet they haven’t played a back like Parker this year. That being said, this will be an uphill battle for the Trojans, hope the boys play hard and fight for Week 12. Go Trojans!

Ridgewood could very well be the favorite to take this region, this is a tall tall task for the Trojans. Glad they made their way into the playoffs but this Ridgewood team is on another level compared to Trojans. Mentioned SOS as being fairly even but when you look at the fact Ridgewood manhandled their 2 big opponents in Indian Valley and Garaway, 2 very good teams in their own right, and Trojans couldn't get past either of their 2 big opponents. Ridgewood has a very explosive offense and Trojans simply don't play very good defense. Wish the Trojans the best but this one will be around that 49-14 look or so.

Wood is big, physical, and deep on OL/DL. QB is a Sophomore who has been the best player on the field all year. Skill players are real good with the ball in their hands. Atmosphere is great from start to finish. Safe travels to Portsmouth.

Woods team speed may surprise you. Most points scored against their D this year was garbage time when the games were decided. Safe travels to you and any other Ptown folks making the long trip.PTrojan59 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 02, 2019 11:30 pm Plan on making the long 3 hour drive for this one. No way I can’t not go. I think this will be a rough one for the Trojans. Might be even worse than last year's playoff game against Madison.
If I'm the coach I give Parker the ball as much as he wants and see if he can pull off some magic in what might be his last game.
