I’d be lying if I said I thought they’d win any league games at the beginning of the year, it was considered a down year in every sense. They just hit their stride one game too late in the season. They were never the fastest or most talented team on the turf but always played with the most intensity and fire. To get to the point where you’re looking at one turnover right before half tonight and saying “what if” is a great thing on its own. Most of all, the coaching staff and kids put out a product that was respectful and represented our community well each week and you can’t ask for anything better than that. Good luck to the Tigers in the playoffs.
Very good honest post. OH never quit, and played better than I thought they would.

Congrats Payton Shoemaker on a fantastic year, 2000 yards is something not easily attained. Good luck to you and your Waverly Tiger teammates as you proceed in the Playoffs.

Hard fought win for the Tigers. Most of us knew it would not be easy. Wondering how #54 for Waverly is doing? Didn't look good.

How does a school the size of Oak Hill get a marching band that big? Somewhere around 90 members is what I counted. Impressive!

Band is a huge thing down here. Many of the lower grades have double the band members in them than kids that play sports, and it might get even bigger with some of the upcoming grades

Well if it was one sided the Oaks wouldn’t have been called on a fumble that never left the running backs possession deep in the red zone to go up 14-13 right before half. Instead Waverly scores to go up 19-7 a whole 13 point swing. And waverly was allowed to run a play without the chains and down marker 20 yards away from even being set. Yes the inadvertent whistle on the muffed punt was bad and so was any time the refs had to add two penalties against each other and were totally clueless how to do it and fought over where to spot the football all night long. But definitely not one sided, just bad.

I think your state champion will come from this region, BUT i feel Waverly is definitely capable of beating 5 of the other 6 that are currently in the top 8. St.Clairsville concerns me. They are usually good even in their down years, and have a strong football tradition. On paper Licking Valley is untouchable in this region, and possibly in all of D4.
I agree with Waverly having favorable matchups in their region however Wyoming and Clinton-Massie are still juggernauts in DIV and the DIV state champ will probably be from the region a Waverly just moved from
I agree...I would want no part of Massie this year.

Massie got smoked tonight 1st round by Valley View so now you don't have to worry about them.
